Being lefty, almost every guitar I've purchased had been done so w/o playing it. I'd love the luxury of playing a guitar before buying, did that only once. I've found getting a high quality axe, like my Jackson USA, Heritage, or Jem, can lesson the anxiety a bit, knowing it's quality, with hopefully less QC issues of the lesser models. There is always the danger of not bonding with it, so definitely make sure there's a return policy.

Yeah, I spoke too soon today. I have seen bunches of them at times. Just not today. Like everything on the used site, it's hit or miss.
I just seen a Suhr guitar on Tumblr and went to their website.....trying to pick my jaw up off my bed right now. Beautiful guitars. They make some awesome looking Teles....

I really dig all of the pics posted of them here. I kind of go with the wok horse mentality too. My Parker is a dark purple, fine playing, no frills, machine and I like it that way, but would love to play a few licks on a suhr just to say I have. Could never see myself parting with anything over 1200 for a guitar tho...
A couple of years ago I picked up a (used) M2, from their first Pro series run with the matte finishes. The modern elliptical neck profile just happens to be the perfect fit for me, so I could see myself spending more on a custom version. For 'the bottom end' of the Suhr stuff, the construction quality is really well done, as good as most other big $ family/reserve/custom shop lines from other companies. Mine is great for my tone needs, but I did buy it used, meaning it wasn't a keeper for someone. (And I think he was the second owner.) I tend to like workhorses, too, this Suhr is the only guitar I've ever spent over $1k on. My two other main guitars are an ESP MII and early Charvel Pro Mod, I have to say they see a lot less play time since I picked up the M2 Pro.
I think they are like most other high-end, high-dollar guitar company: Once you get above the $1500 or so range, the whole law of diminishing returns thing starts to kick in. I could see myself 'indulging' (one time) for $2500-$3000, but not $7k.

This is pretty much the model I was considering getting, but in black. I really like the stripped down, workhorse look of it, but I decided that right now may not be the best time to drop that kind of cash on it. So I bought a So-Cal instead, since I've been really obsessing over them so much lately.
Having no experience with Suhrs at all, I decided not to take the risk if I don't bond with it. I did find a Suhr dealer about three hours away that has a few Moderns on the wall, I'm gonna take a trip up there some weekend and try these out for myself and see what they're all about before I pull the trigger on one.

I hear you, I hadn't ever handled one before this one. Fortunately at the time, I could have easily flipped it for what I paid for it if it wasn't to my liking, so my risk was about as minimal as it could get.
