School me on Suhr guitars

Post by DjentFarts »

OK so I saw this Suhr, and while it is a knockout guitar, What makes a bolt on tele worth $7K?? Is it the wood, the precision work? What?

LOL from the looks of it, I'd love it, but that's way too steep for me. I'd get a custom Koa Parker and clock in much cheaper.

Too steep for me too but that is one incredible guitar. I mean, over the top...

Is that the normal ball park on Suhrs? I have never really looked into them and I'm feeling too lazy to google them right now. :)

Suhr's are high dollar guitars but this one is a special build.

That is a great looking guitar. While the koa is cool looking, that pao ferro neck is

I would love, love, love to own a guitar with a pao ferro fretboard, let alone a single piece neck :fap:

7k??? No thanks.

I've played a few 4k+ Moderns and I left thinking, "No way this is 4k+!"

I'll stick with my EVH Wolfgang and N4's.

I know I'm not the only person who feels this way too.

Was thinking of posting a similar thread.

Been looking at them also and about $2,100 is the lowest brand new Suhr's made, and they are just plain painted ones.

This one caught my eye, but at 3k is a little over my budget.

Only 3k??? I would've guessed at least 3.6k.

Nice guitar but way too pricy for me. Top notch builders, the Suhr guys.

I'm not into the "work of art" guitars. Give me a meat and potatoes guitar any day.

This is relevant to my interests....would love to hear more from people who have owned/played these, because I'm highly considering blowing my tax refund on one. Mostly about the neck shape feel, and response of the pickups.

Now in looking more, I see that these M6's are only $2,450 and the same pricing at a number of shops.

This could fit my budget, but I have never played a Suhr before, and I don't think anyone sells them around here.

Would it be crazy to order a guitar like this having never played one?

I'm looking for a somewhat shredder type axe with exceptional tone.

I ordered a Tom Anderson, which is on par with the Suhr stuff, without playing it and I later regretted it. It was an amazing guitar but I just didn't bond with it.

Would it crazy to buy without trying...well, no but it would be better if you could. One thing is for sure, if you order a Suhr you will get amazing craftsmanship and attention to detail. If you don't like the guitar it most likely won't be due to poor quality of build. However, just because a guitar is a high quality build doesn't mean its going to have that special mojo that does it for you. I found that out the hard way when I dropped a ton of cash on the Tom Anderson.

That was the case with my Tom Anderson. Great guitar, it just left me flat.

Izzy has some really good looking Suhr's but I've never seen any of the vintage style in the wild.

The super strat versions did nothing for me but eventually I want to try one of the vintage ones.

They are all over the used Guitar Center site.

I've never played a Suhr, but I have read in several different places that the top end Levinson Blades are on par. For pennies on the dollar.

Just sayin'.

How does Guitar Center handle used stuff? Can you get something brought in to your local store, or do you have to pay shipping?

Either. Their shipping charges used to be outrageous but lately it's been quite fair.

That Suhr in the OP's link is fucking GORGEOUS

I think I'd rather have this for a few grand less though

Nation wide used search shows only 1 result :brow:

Could'nt see too many people walkin' into Guitar center with a Suhr wanting to trade in at a huge loss for a cheaper guitar.
