I haven't used Reaper, but in most DAWs you just set up an automation track, but instead of volume or clip gain, you just select any of the parameters of the plugins on the track.

You click that upside down lopsided V thingy, and select which parameters you want to view with the track.
If you have an active plug in, those parameters will appear as well. You right click the parameter track display, and "create new point". Create a few of these points, and move them up and down. It acts like a real time fader for whatever parameter you adjust.

Yeah, i just figured this out while working on that song i've been mixing and it's super useful! Only did it to automate when the modulation comes in and out but want to dive in to more detailed automations.... could be A LOT of fun!

I think it's already on the video that was posted, but here's really simplified and short:

Click on the envelope button on the track, on the menu that opens tick the boxes that you want to automate. Then on the track view shift+click on the envelope track to insert points, then drag those points around to change the parameters.

Reaper is just awesome. I never find the need for anything else. I have tried almost all the others and just find Reaper does what it should do. Maybe they should call it the working mans DAW. Lets hear the track.

Done! This one didn't wrap up in two hours like the rest of what I've been doing lately. This took a few days of sessions of listening/editing/overdubbing/etc. There are 5 or 6 guitar tracks on this.

The madness ramps up near the end. I used a bit crusher on the drums. It starts to elevate in volume and frequency during the last couple minutes. I also ramped up a reverb tail on the dirty guitar and drums. It ends up sounding like some kind of twisted vocal chant.
