Its mostly tube amps here for the local punk and metal shows.. but I noticed some of the new younger gen bands are bring digital (Kemper/Fractal/Line 6) and running thru fx loops of the headliner band's tube amps so sounds less digital.

From what I see, For local acts modelers are a minority. For national acts they are an extreme minority



When I used to go to more Djent/prog metal shows that’s the only time I ever saw a high concentration of modelers and even then it was 50/50

I wonder how many use both? I'm using a Helix rack with my Jubilee. Some presets use the Jube preamp but not many. I like having the 4X12 and half stack look and the tube power amp just sounds good. Bringing an amp is a necessity in the crappy bars my band plays. The places just aren't ready to deal with a modeler and monitors on stage. Half the time amps won't get a mic. The singer gets a monitor, maybe the drummer if he's lucky. If I have to bring a powered speaker to be heard onstage i'm just going to bring the half stack.

Yeah that's probably the best way to do it.
I agree it's hard to rely on PA at smaller venues.

Around here (Cleveland), it seems like modeling is really only something pro-ish level cover bands are using consistently, and they typically bring their own PA or have their own sound person.

Most original bands (rock or otherwise) are using smaller tube or solid state amps (e.g., Fender Hot Rods, Quilters, Roland JCs) and pedals.

Original Metal and Punk bands are still using primarily tube half stacks. For me, I come from the time where the PA "might" handle the vocals and "monitors" were a thing of legend that you might have if opening for a touring act so having all the stage volume in the backline is still the way it's done.
