Who listens to/plays country?

Post by CrunchBerries »

I have never been fond of country, but long story short; regular radio makes me want to place a 44 in my mouth and spray brains all over the place.

So; i've been listening to country. And holy crap, I kinda like it.

Song I really like that have been playing, and I'm not sure why I like them:

Kip - Sump' 'bout a truck
Luke Bryan - Thats my kinda night (i realize this is way more pop than country, but to me its fucking country anyways lol)
Dean Brody - Bounty
Eric Church - Drink in my hand

and a bunch of other stuff I don't know what the names to them are.

What happened to me? I'm a bit worried.

Also, I have Lever Fever. Just pulled the trigger and ordered a 60's Marlin 336RC in 30-30.
Image

So at what point do I buy the hat and boots? And wtf are all these tight jeans about.. I can work with the plad shirt, but not super fitted ones.

:(

Also, anyone know some good songs?

Edit: Also I reallly like some of the toans these guys have.. gat dangit, listen to "Somthin bout a truck" and you'll know what I mean..

Was in a country cover band for awhile.

While the lyrical content of the songs was pretty dumb, they were damn fun to play most times.

We played some lesser knows stuff too: Pistol Annies, Katie Armiger, Jane Dear Girls. Singer was pretty hot and band mates were all cool dudes.

Overall I had a blast but the singer got too big for us and joined a bigger band that had established management and a booking agent.
Tele / Strat / LP / Sheraton
Into -> Pedals (too many)
Into Plexi clone / '68 Bassman / JCA 100 / '65 Ampeg M-15
Into 2x12 with Green Beret / Reaper 55hz OR 4x12 with G12T75s

Good deals with: Ovid9, paul88lx, Y0UNGBL00D, boonestunes, Laura from Valvequeen.

Check out some of my projects at Helios Amps and Effects

I am a huge Keith Urban fan. I met him a few years ago. Great guy and a hell of a gitar picker. I love the tone/solo in this song.

I really dig the country Telecaster thing (think Brad Paisley). That style of playing is completely alien to me though and I wouldn't begin to know how to do it.
Guitars:
Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro
Fender Standard Stratocaster MIM
Tama 3555 Acoustic

Gear:
Kemper Profiler, JBL LSR308, Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, Focusrite Scarlett 6i6, Apple iMac, Garageband
DIY Soldano X88R clone and 50W rack poweramp -> TC Electronic G Major II -> BBE Sonic Maximizer 362 -> RANE PE 15 Parametric EQ -> DIY Soldano X88R clone and 50W rack poweramp -> DIY 1x12 Cab

Country is why i'm going to off myself at work one of these days.

Seriously, the same 12 shitty songs written by mentally defective marmots make me want to off myself.

Honestly, radio country makes black metal lyrics about satan look like fucking PhD dissertations.

I can't even appreciate the musicianship at this point. Same 12 songs, 3-5x a day.

Someone, please. Kill me.

Modern country can be pretty bad. It's like they discovered the formula for songs and image and keep rehashing the same shit over and over. It seems so polished , many of these guys are imposters trying to play the country role. Then again, with radio going in the direction it is I see why so many turn to the country station.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA

I know. The lyrics are quite... basic. Here, let's make a song;

Beer, Truck, Tailgate, Son, Wife, Father, Daughter, Momma, Farm, Cornfield. Make a chorus with any of these words and give it a good guitar hook. Now talk about sad, happy or angry any of those make you.

Agreed on all fronts.

Its not what I've been wanting to die about on the regular radio... so I guess it might be short lived too.

So far, I've noticed everything about the simple simple over used and beat to death formula, but it hasn't bothered me yet. However I am not at a workplace exposed to it every day like Ovid seems to be :)

You forgot 'Texas'. Frequency of use inversely proportionate to the number of times the songwriter has been there.

Yeah, seems to be a huge subject, but don't they all come from Tennessee/Georgia/Alabama/Mississippi?
