How did this get released? Not a comment on the songs but on the production. Holy hell is this bad.

I'm not gonna touch that subject. I'm not and never have been a fan of Metallica in general, I don't like most their tracks.

the production is atrocious. The drums in particular.

Yes, the Pepsi-can-cut-in-half snare drum sound is bad. Like, weapons grade bad.

And the songs are awful. Used to be, a seven-minute Metallica song would at least go somewhere. St. Anger had these long ass songs where they would just bash two chord progressions into the ground.
"If there was only a way that I couldn't even any less than I already can't then I'd gladly not, but I think I've entered some quantum paradox, dark matter levels of can't evening where the total absolute value of not evenness exceeds all ability to explain the can'ting." - MR RUBATO

The snare sound is a bit annoying on that album.

After getting double donged by Load and ReLoad I didn't think it could possibly get any worse. I maybe got thru the first couple songs at the most before I tossed it.

Well, this thread has made me listen to it for the first time too. Also not a fan of Metallica at all. So far I'm still on song one, and I have to say at least it's interesting. More so that any of the "good" stuff I've heard by them.

Ok, I'm getting to the end now. I think it's fine. Funnily enough I think it's got a bit of a SOAD dirty riffing vibe, just with a different vocal sound. Even some of the harmonies point me in that direction.

But again, I'm approaching it as it's own thing, not a fan of Metallica with expectations of a certain style.

Metallica has been sub-par both in the studio and live for so long, it's hard for me to even listen to the good stuff any more.

Metallica sucked System of a Down's dick hard on that album and took a splatter of steaming ejaculatory failsauce on the nose.

I am a fan of Metallica from back in the early 80's....
Bought this CD.....was excited actually! :thu:

Listened to a few of the tracks a few times and chucked it in the river when driving. (True story)
Shit was just......SAD.
Maybe I had a "St. Anger" management problem?
