Joe Satriani Up in the Sky cover w/ Dimarzio Super II

Post by Benellerguitars »

MMMMMM what a tasty tune! Joe hasn't ever topped Crystal Planet in my opinion... amazing album from start to finish.
Playing my swirled Ibanez RG470 here with the Dimarzio Super II in the bridge. Awesome pickup! VERY bright and tight, perfect for a dark or woofy guitar. Enjoy!

Read thread title, thought it was Satriani doing a VH cover which would completely rule :) Marked for later as your clips are always good :thu

Great job Ben.. I actually don't have Crystal Planet.. I only have 2 albums of the Snatch.. I think his first 4song dealie.. Abd the one with a red and black color scheme on the cover with a pic of him looking down holding his guitar.. Yes, i realize i prolly could have googled the names in the amount of time it took me to write this, but what's wrong with a little honesty? Hah!

Anyway, seriously you are one of the few guys I've seen who can play as effortlessly as you seem.. Just total control.. Honestly, put out a solo record and i bet you can be touring with Satch or Vai!.. I'm not shitting you, man.. The way you play and have some fun is very reminiscent of those dudes..

Also, I'm gonna try the Super 2 in the bridge cause you said too.. lol.. No, not really, but i do have one of those guitars that sounds killer.. Its clear and heavy, but it's like 2 shades darker than any of my other guitars besides my Ibanez 7.. It might kill what i love about that guitar, but i also always think it could be a touch brighter..

Crystal Planet is definitely one of my favorite Satch albums; marked for later!!

I agree nothing he has done since has come close. The whole vibe and headspace he was in on CP was really something special.

I was actually jammin this song in my truck the other day and thought it would be badass to cover :D
