I tried the Boss Waza Dimension C trying to get that wide stereo image and while it was amazing in stereo, I just didn't love it in mono. It just seemed like a really limited chorus when running mono, and I wasn't looking to always run a stereo rig.

Meanwhile Shea had been sharing clips of his new H90/SLO rig and noting the Micropitch delivers the exact tone I was looking for. Sure enough, it's exactly what I wanted and SO much more. I've only played with it in the fx loop of the Jubilee so far, but the effect quality is so much higher than any other digital multifx I've tried it's not even funny. This is truly an incredible piece of gear.

Thanks to AJ at Sweetwater for getting it out so quick!

It's crazy powerful. I had the older H9 for a while and it was awesome but the display/layout made it very difficult to use.

It seems like they solved those issues now, the new display looks much better. And they doubled the processing power!!!

I didn't like the format of the H9 at all. The base model required spending a buttload on each algorithm and the Max was like $700 for 1 effect at a time.

Granted, this one only does 2 at a time, but that makes a huge difference.

Update: So I was having issues with the effects loop on the jubilee and after some contact cleaner it's sounding great through the loop. Since the pedal was the new piece of gear I automatically assumed it was acting up in 4CM, but sure enough just 36 year old Marshall problems. While I was sorting that out I confirmed the H90 sounded amazing in front of my Fenders.

I was able to tweak the presets a little bit on the unit itself, but after connecting it to the software editor I've really started to shape the sounds I want. So much depth to the algorithms, and the effects are next level good.

I don't use many effects so it's good for me as an addition to my existing pedal board to get two wild card spots on my board. The Univibe is good enough to kick my Fulltone MDV off the board, and the delays/reverbs are flat out great. Of course the Micropitch is bad ass as well, and is the one I spend the most time with.

It rules.

I've been curious about these for a hot minute, but the price tag always made me look away. I just don't think I'd get my money's worth out of it. But you say you're kind of a basic effects guy - worth it for just reverb and delay? High quality effects and small footprint get my attention, but again I think I'd be paying too much for only using a fraction of it.

Yeah the price is the biggest deterrent for me too but I've seen them around $750 used. If I get great modulation, delay and reverb out of it, that's about $250 per effect, which is not unreasonable.

I'm pretty sure I'm buying one next year.

The cool thing, despite being limited to 2 algorithms at once, is that most of them are several effects rolled in to one. Most are not just simple reverbs/delays, although those are there too. The synths, pitch shifting, modulation, and space effects are studio quality and can add so much depth to the rig. It basically covers all of my effect usage outside my normal fuzzes/overdrives so it integrates well with my specific situation. The Micropitch alone is :fap:

In addition, it excels at running between my Two Notes Captor and DAW interface, and sounds great in front of NMV amps. It's extremely versatile depending on how you want to run it.

That said, if you just want a more live oriented, jack of all trades, solution the HXFX is also very good. That's what I use with my band because I can set entire "boards" to match the specific song needs, and the HXFX handles amp channel switching on top of the 4cm world of effects.

Peak 80s/90s right here:

I love that this forum is going 80s!!!! Even the Texas crew!!

And yeah I will definitely get one.
I already have a multi-effects unit that's great for live use (Boss MS-3). Very small, easy to use and sounds like Boss effects, which I like. But I'm not even using that at the moment because my live effects needs are very basic anyway. I only have a wah, overdrive and delay on my live board at the moment.

But I want a high-end effects processor to put together a "rack" sounding rig with all those 80s tones. I was thinking about getting a Lexicon MPX1 but this might be a better option. It's smaller and probably easier to use.

Buying the EVH a couple years back opened my eyes to the 80s :fap:

fwiw, you could run your wah and this to get your overdrive and delay sounds on your live board. :idk: But yeah, this excels at those rack type effects for sure. The reverbs have that pristine sheen to them that sound glorious, and I can't really overstate how amazing the MicroPitch is.

Now I need to try it in stereo...

Thanks, man. G12T75s. I can't remember if they're vented or not, but they're the originals from 87. Sounds identical to my JCM800 cabinet which is my favorite cab.

Ah yes. I have a similar JCM800 slant cab with the faded cloth. I think I dated mine to '86. Non vented 75's. Pulled them for Greenbacks but still have the speakers in my garage.

Oh right, we have the same 800 cab!

I seem to recall mine has vented 75s but it’s been like 10 years since I’ve had it open. Probably time to check it and the Jube cab

I need a cabinet with 75s. I love the way they sound with Marshalls.

I'll look for a deal on a stock 1960B next year.

Prioritize the H90. The more I dig in this thing the more it’s blowing my mind.

It’s too bad you’re not closer because I currently have 3 1960s with 75s

Why are you thinking an MPX-1 instead of a G Major 2, or Axe-FX, or similar?

The Lexicon reverbs and delays have a tone that other units can't really replicate. It's a denser, thicker tone that sounds almost analog but it's also crystal clear.

I do like the G-Major 2 a lot for an utilitarian multi effects rack, it's a good sounding unit but the Lexicon is superior.

Now, maybe the AxeFx would be a good option. My only first hand experience with Fractal was the FX8 and I have to say it was an incredible sounding unit. I didn't dive into it as deeply as I should've but the potential is definitely there. So maybe that's a possibility.
