I don’t know who these are priced for. It’s not for most people who grew up listening to their music.

Yeah good point. When they release something at this price point for Eric Clapton or Bonamassa, it makes sense because there are a lot of older wealthy people in their fan base. But Tool is a completely different demographic

Looks like it has jumbo frets. Wish more Gibson's did that out of the box. And at the $2K price point. Not F'ing $20K!

Maybe Gibson is taking a page out of Zakk's pup switch placement?

Randy Rhoads was the one who started this weird switch placement on his polka dot V. Zakk got it from him.

I never played a guitar with that switch placement but I imagine it's uncomfortable to play without hitting the switch.

That's the old Gibson split headstock from the early Explorer prototypes. Not really a fan of this guitar but I seriously doubt I'll ever be in the market for a 20K Flying V.

Holy crap! How did I miss that one after all these years? I need to look up some old footage and see how he went about switching the pickups. Thank you Billy for pointing that out!

Gibson understands Tool fans and collectors. They are probably already sold.

Mediocre band. The thing that makes them exceptional is the fact that their fans are rabid animals.

I like the finish, like the V, inlays, get to the headstock and :freak: then notice the switch placement and right to DNW.

Swing and a open-air for miles miss.

I was a big Randy fan as a kid, and I, too, am only just now learning about the switch placement from Billy in this thread. Not sure how I missed it, since I definitely remember this photo.
