I know prices are climbing, but $1500 for an Epiphone? When the "custom" Epiphones were selling around the five to six hundred dollar mark, that was pretty sweet. This feels like, if not rape, at the very least a very rough molestation.

I'm currently in Metallica fanboy mode and this is a no for me. The headstock is great. The pickups are great. The 50s wiring is great. The aged gloss finish looks cheap and Indian laurel fretboard on a $1500 is insulting to me. Get Indian rosewood. The price is a no for an Epiphone. Sorry, I know some import guitars can and do go for this much and more and that's fine. But I can't wrap my head around an Epi costing this much.

Yeah they have to remove that extra "1" they put in front of the $499, which is what that guitar should cost.

For $1500 I'll buy used Gibsons

It’s surprisingly ugly, I feel like a lot of the figured veneer imports actually look great these days but this shit looks like 2005 again. Fail

Right? I was legit surprised by how nice the veneer is on my PRS SE Santana. It’s a good looking veneer. This is like some foto-flame shit

I don’t mind that he has it. He could afford to buy it when it last went up for sale and the last person who had it was a collector. It gets played nightly when he’s on tour (the real one does. Both nights in Detroit he had it out for several songs). I also enjoy the fact that folks at MLP and TGP continually lose their minds that Hammett owns it and not some blues guy. Like you’d think he fucked their mom in front of them or something. But no, he just bought a million dollar guitar and plays it.

the fact it is getting played is cool, but it just.. dosent do anything for me with him  like in the beato interview hes going on and on about how he sleeps with the thing and rubs his wang on it and im just like dude great, it has no significance to metallica to me lol. id rather see him play some sick ESP from the 90s or some shit

Yeah I don't mind that he has it. Hammett is as legendary a player as anybody. Like him or not he's the lead player in what's quite possibly the biggest metal band of all time. And he seems to genuinely love it and plays it all the time.

I think this guitar (epiphone) is cool. Definitely a step in the right direction for Epiphone with the headstock and proper hardware.

My only problem with it is the price. If it was 500-600 I'd consider buying one as a backup for my main LP but at this price, it's out of question.

The current run of Epi is pretty good. I hope this is a new trend and we see more open books.
