Vented T75 IR clip

Post by EndTime »

Grabbed these from that Mirror profiles dude. I noticed he has a little subforum at Rig Talk so maybe some may actually know who this is. But he does good work.

I’ve used old T75s for quite awhile before I sorta moved on some years ago. Mine aren’t “vented” but still mid 80s versions. And I always got along great with em.

These immediately reminded me of sunthing familiar and it took me a sec but they have Some Eminence Legend v12 vibe happening. And I happen to use those for a decade before the t75s! Lol

Quick clip made up on the spot with the 6505 boosted green channel. And then for the little lead, same guitar, same amp settings but used an York audio Evh spkr IR. Little compression and just like that, you can get a lead to sit in it’s own space with no work. For sure that is an appealing nature of IRs.

wow nice!! Sounds really good. I think I will grab that IR. I love 75s, of all eras, I think they're a misunderstood speaker, lol..... because people try them at the store or in their bedroom and that's usually not a good experience, but with some volume they really come alive.
Guitars:
'78 Les Paul Pro / '89 SG Special/ '04 Gibson Les Paul Classic 3 pickup / Jackson Star/ Endres Tele / Fernandes Rhoads/ ''74 Hohner MIJ strat/ 2 Partscasters

Amps:
Depends on when you ask. I got tired of constantly updating this section lol

Cabs
Marshall 1960A w V30s/ Seismic 2x12 w Redback and V30.

Yeah these were an immediate win for me. Really good Tones here. Very familiar for me. They really remind me of some of my old recordings. I think it was the “84” sumthin sumthin pack. Lol. I could look it up, but it has 84 in the title.

And all his compensated versions are really good. He used a Fryette compensated version and those sounded great to me. Idk if he ran it thru the power station or sumthin? No idea really but the Fryette ones are especially big to me

Sounds incredible! I love T75s and have 2 cabinets with the 80s vented ones and 1 cab with the non vented 80s. They all sound killer and I’ve sung their praises for decades.

You’re getting some crazy convincing tones with IRs lately, capturing the bouncy/lively nature of your playing. Kick ass stuff dude.

Thanks dudes!

And yeah I never had a problem with the 75s. And I was reminded recently when a used JVM with just a standard old Marshall 1960 came in with it into the shop and I jammed the hell out of that thing. And I was once again reminded I like these and to get back to em.

For this recording, I honestly would have a hard time saying it’s not as good and as “real” as my mic’d stuff. This guy is doing some “compensated” versions which is adding color thru various ways. He explains it on his site but it really adds a real mic sound to me. And as someone who has been as die hard as anyone when it comes to mics vs IR, this is arguably “there”. It literally is still sumthin that people are finding new ways to get correct and it’s improving quite a bit to the point, why not?? It definitely adds some consistency that can be lost with mics and also WAY more flexibility with all the different cabs/speakers now available. I’d say I’m pretty much a convert! Haha. Not meaning I won’t mic my shit cause I still like all the results I get that way, but it won’t be always

That’s bad ass. I’ve gotten along with IRs bc I don’t have your recording skills and it’s cool to hear they’ve finally gotten to the point you’re good with em.

Keep up the great work, dude.

Sounds killer, and yeah... I would never know it wasn't a real miked cab, it breathes right if that makes sense.

Those 80s T75s sound so different to my ears compared to newer models. I have thought about getting some again at some point. They were really nice!

Sounds great! I have both the 80's versions and the current MIC models and love both. They are definitely way different. The newer 75's have more sizzle and lower mids vs the older have a little less top end and more upper mids. That is one impressive IR.

Sounds fucking great man! I've always loved T75s and Hot-100s. Absolutely no good to a quiet band though
