Mike Portnoy back with Dream Theater

I'm not a huge DT fan but I like some songs and I've seen them live.

I honestly thought that this was never going to happen since their breakup was pretty ugly and public.

But here we are. Should be interesting. I do think he's the right guy for the band.

Slightly OT but Portnoy is going to be filling in on drums for one of the nights of Umphrey McGee's new years run. That should be pretty cool

I have been a fan since Images & Words but Mangini is the complete prog package.

Portnoy wants so desperately to be Peart but he lacks the taste and restraint.

I don't get the negativity some have towards Portnoy. I love his playing style. I don't think he lacks anything.

Obviously, Mangini is awesome too.

Both are great drummers. But I think Portnoy belongs in DT. That's as close to the original lineup as they can get.

This news made me want to get ready to listen to their new stuff.
