This seems pretty rad, basically an updated M5. There is a solid chance I might grab one of these

I'm so pumped, I'll definitely be getting one. Ships mid December

I will preface this by saying I am a current Helix owner, POD Go owner, and a former HX Effects owner who thinks the effects in the HX series are truly outstanding. I like the size format of the HX One, and the idea of having HX family effects available for a smaller board. However, at this price point, I would like to have seen at least two, if not three, effects available at once. The processors are more than capable, it just seems a little too reduced feature-wise for that type of coin.

Personally, the single effect is part of the appeal to me.
I was a fan of the M series stuff back in the day and owned both the M5 and M9 on more than one occasion. I liked the m5 better as a "wildcard" integration into my pedalboard, rather than the m9 trying to be the whole pedalboard. Definitely seems that L6 designed this with people like me in mind who aren't trying to go the multifx route and use traditional pedalbioards

I can understand that mindset and key demographic, and think there is absolutely a niche to be owned in that arena. I just think for the price they are selling this one for, it may have been more easily digestible had it been $249 at the most and had a double version for $349. Maybe my brain has not caught up with the current state of rampant inflation though. Either way, for not much more real estate and not a lot more cost, a HX stomp would be my choice.

Price seems ok to me HX stomp doesn't register much excitement for me between price/size/a whole bunch of what would be bulk/features I don't need or want
They're still selling M5s for $170, and imo I see $120 worth of improvement over that easily here

The concept of a single effect at a time on a small pedal is cool but but I agree with the price comment above. $299 is not awful though, a HX Stomp is a lot more than that, but I am not sure if it's a fair comparison since that can be a full rig.
I'd be comparing this more like to something like say a TC Plethora X3. Which to be fair, offers up to 3 effects at a time for only $50 more. So I think that would be the biggest competitor and yes, it's a better bang for the buck. So Heath's idea of $249 for a single effects unit and $349 for a double or maybe even triple unit makes sense.
But it is what it is and I am considering buying it. For example, it could replace my DD-500 since it does all the delay I need - and a lot more. So there is value in it.

Going to chalk it up to my brain just not absorbing the cost jumps over the past few years and being a cheapskate. I picked up the HX Effects in 2019 when you could get them $549 new vs the $649 they go for now.

Maybe I'm desensitized because the last two pedals I bought were $350 a pop Boss pedals and I've certainly bought more than one single effect boutique pedals that are close to that $299 mark
The TC plethora doesn't really appeal to me
And I'm -very- much into this whole Flux thing...
Needless to say I will be grabbing one of these when available

The last high-end single effect I paid for was the Keeley Halo and it was $299, but it does make some sounds that I can't do with my helix, and I have tried.
The flux thing is cool though, and I hope they bring the functionality over to the other HX products. I could see having a runaway delay switch setup. Probably can do it with the helix now with some effort, come to think of it, but that just seems a little easier the way they are describing it with this product.

Eventide has more brand prestige than L6 but lets not forget the H9 has similar "limitations" and clocks in at $599

I would buy the Line 6 over Eventide. My recent experiences with Eventide were not great. I had the Micropitch and I was frankly disappointed with it, which surprised me because I grew up with that type of tone and the originals were also Eventide products. But the pedal didn't sound great to me and it wasn't very transparent.

I haven't looked much into the Plethora tbh, but I tend to like TC effects. Just now, I was playing with the Toneprint app with a Flashblack Mini and I dialed in a nearly perfect lead delay sound. I also have a TC Nova Repeater that I love. I always got along with TC gear.

The Micropitch in the H90 is fucking glorious! Balance tone all day!
Not in stock/shipping yet at most of the bigger retailers but lots of smaller shops have them in stock and ready to ship

The H90 is definitely on my list of pedals I have to try. I'm buying one next year.

I’m actually using my Balance preset in BCB for our “ballad.” It kicks so much ass. I really like it. I still love the Collider cause it just sounds “right” but the H90 does so much more. I’m going to buy an expression pedal for it to control wet mix.
