Marshall 1936 2x12 mono input does not work

Post by boris the blade »

I can't believe I never noticed this before, but the mono input does not work. only one speaker works, and if i use the other jack then only the other speaker works. bad jack plate or something? I compared the wiring to other 1936 cabs and it seems to be wired up just fine.

any ideas? thx

The mono jack on these is a switching jack and they are prone to failure. As said above, cleaning is the first step, and replacing the jack is the second. It should take care of your issue though. The other option is to rewire the cab to mono without the switching jack.

These Marshall jackplates are not reliable so wiring in mono is definitely But if you want to keep the switching, Mojotone makes a drop in replacement switch that is much better quality.

I did read someone suggesting to wire it to mono, just desolder the wires from one jack then solder to the other jack, matching the wire colors?
