LISTEN TO THIS SONG

Post by NinjaRaf »

Or don't lol. Been working on this for way too long for 2 songs, man, but it is what it is lol. Had band members out of town for a month, lyrics not written, whatever. Hopefully getting the real bass nailed down this weekend, and this song will be ready to roll! The other one, still gotta do bass and vocals for. There is a bass track on this, but it's just some bullshit I recorded. Guitars are Mesa Mark VII into Mesa OS 412. PR30 micing a Redback. Strat with SD Omega in it, and the Loomis stone tone block on the Floyd.

I have to say...I really under-estimated the power of direct monitoring!! Eric was right, which of course I sort of already knew, but I seriously hate these stupid headphones. I'm in here sweating my ass off, it's 800 fucking degrees outside, AC is struggling like a bitch, and I'm trying to get these tracks done!! haha...well, it was fucking worth it, so fuck me I guess LOLOL

This sounds great. One of your best productions. The guitar tone is nicely balanced and the bass actually sits really well for a scratch track.

My one critique is that I'd turn up the guitar solo.

Yeah sounds good man. Sounds like a proper mix. Playing is tighter this go around. Or maybe I’m thinking of a different song. But stay with this “template”! Lol

And might the first time I’ve heard you use synth

Brutal. Love the mix. The vocs sit right against the guitars. Killer all around.

Very nice! "BleeeeeH" Excellent vocal hooks. Love the synth aspect as well \m/ Drums seem a little dense but that could be because I can't crank it proper at the moment? Solo is great and I agree with Snave as far as turning up that solo!

Thanks for checking it out and for the comments! I think I still need to work out the lead tone. It's not sounding quite how I want it to yet. But I am getting there!!

Appreciate the playing tightness comment, too. I think I will need to re-do the Engl track at some point because that track is a little off, now, playing-wise.

There's actually no synth!! Those are vocal tracks.

Sounds awesome. Love the rhythm guitar when it slides down.

Solo sounds great. I disagree with everyone about the mix level of the solo. I think it's pretty loud in the mix. Sounds good.

Appreciate it! I've been tweaking, the solo is already different from the first take that got comments lol. I'm exporting a newly recorded solo version right now, too haha.

Good song and playing, the chorus has a nice nu-metal vibe ! As far as the instruments volumes, I thing the solo is too loud and the drums are too low in the mix.

Great tune! And the singer (lol growler?) Combined with the riffs reminded me of FBD era Pantera! Only more aggressive! Killer job!

Thanks dudes!

Updated with new guitar tracks haha. I used the Fredman clip and 2 SM57s on the Mark VII this time, like the other thread. I think this will be my last re-track.
