Vertical 2x12s

Post by GuitarBilly »

I'm thinking about buying a vertical 2x12 to use with my 5150 50w head. Not to cut down on weight, I don't mind carrying a 4x12 but I'm OCD and the EVH head on a 4x12 looks a bit like...

So anyway, what are good vertical 2x12 that are readily available and not crazy expensive?

I have speakers here that I could load the cab with, so I'd consider unloaded cabs.

I was looking at the EHX cab that pairs with the MIG 50 head but the specs are not very detailed as far as building materials etc... but on the other hand, I had the MIG head and it was very well made, including the headshell.

Any other cab worth looking at?

Thanks!!

I have a jet city vertical 2x12 with v30's in it that is cool. Haven't used it in a long time though. Here is a pic of rig when i was gigging with it a while many years back.

LoLoL. I always think about this beetle juice scene with these little amps too lol.

Personally I want a Mesa one. But they’re over $1k and been out of stock for eternity. So meh.

Avatar. Just get one of the contemporary 212s and put the feet on the side. I did this for em years with my mt15.

I picked up a Stagecraft diagonal 212 cab 7 or 8 years ago and it's been great. They're a cab builder out of St Louis, owned by Mission Engineering.

If you're interested in the EHX one, there's a used one with free shipping for 279.99 https://reverb.com/item/14980304-electr ... binet-used
They're made from poplar plywood, this guy switched out the grill and speakers, looks nice with the grill change https://www.harmonycentral.com/forums/t ... -mig50212/

I got the cab today. I like it so far. It's a very light cab. I can carry it with one hand. It's also much shallower than a Marshall cab.

The stock speakers sounds good but they're more in the Fender/Jensen style, I was planning to replace them because I want the cab to be 8 ohms so no big deal.

Good cab overall especially for the price.

What speakers were you planning on using? I like the Neo Creambacks, and they’ll fit the lightweight ethos.

I already have a pair of V30s here so that will go in first, since it's already paid for. If I don't like the V30s in it, the Neo Creambacks would be my next option.
