RIP Robbie Robertson

Post by GuitarBilly »

Not sure if there are any The Band fans here. But my mom loves their music and I listened to a lot of their music as a result. My mom had a Stage Fright cassette that pretty much lived in her car stereo so I have memories of going on vacations and family trips listening to it. And their records were constantly played around the house. When I started to play the guitar I learned a lot of their songs so I could play them for mom and she would sing them with me. She was actually a really good singer when she was younger (she's 83 now). So yeah lots of good childhood memories there.
I spoke with mom today and told her he died and she actually cried a little.
Sad to see him go. RIP.

Huge loss. R.I.P. definitely check out The last Waltz and I highly recommend his solo stuff. Much it of with American Indian musicians.

Yeah, big bummer. I feel like The Band doesn't always get the recognition and appreciation they deserve these days.

RIP. Figure he had a long, successful run and accomplished so much during his lifetime. It’s a shame he was sick for the last year.

My Dad is a huge fan of The Band so I heard a ton of them growing up. Music from Big Pink is one of my favorite chill albums of all time.

I remember my Dad being gifted The Last Waltz DVD when I was in high school. We watched it together late one night and my Dad kept sneaking me beers. Got fairly well hammered with him and got to listen to him rant about how Joni Mitchell should have been skipped.
