I’m going to World AIDS Day
EQD is doing their Earthquaker Day on August 5th. I mentioned it to my wife and she said “you should text your singer and go with him!” So she knows full well I’ll be going there and buying something so yay. Looking forward to seeing some demos and possibly grabbing a pedal or two. Plus Akron isn’t super far from me. It’s about a 2.5 hour drive.

I mean I already have two of their pedals so I guess all I can do now is take PrEP meds?

Re: I’m going to World AIDS Day
I’m actually really excited about it. There’s a couple pedal clinics right off the bat, one featuring Jamie Stillman their lead designer/founder, plus some vendors and b-stock sales.

That’s like 15 minutes from me. I actually went to college at Akron. It’s a cool small city.

Re: I’m going to World AIDS Day
So I’ve been here for a bit. About to do the factory tour and hopefully buy some gear. It’s a cool setup with vendors and tents too. Played a couple guitars and tried some pedals (they have booths with guitars, boards and headphones). Liked the RevStar I played. Did not like the SE McCarty 594 at PRS’s booth. Food was ok. Some dude brought his cello to test with. I’ll post pics when I get home.

Re: I’m going to World AIDS Day
Limited gold dispatch master

Buy a pedal and get a Disaster Transport half off.

Someone was selling a Sunn Sentura I

I did play one of the RevStars they had at a test booth and it was sweet. Great guitar.

Dude with a cello!

PRS had a booth too. Didn’t care much for the SE 594 though. Plus the HDRX wasn’t good at all.

Pedal clinic.

Cool fun thing if you like EQD. They did factory tours, you could shop their direct stuff and buy things in limited colors. A buddy went with me and we had fun road tripping and killing some time there. I’m back home now and going to get some dinner. All in all, fun day.

Re: I’m going to World AIDS Day
Hell yeah man, sounds like it was a real good time. I’m curious to hear how the DT reissues are, I had an original back in the day. It was very cool and my main delay for a while. Can’t remember what kicked it off my board though lol.

Brian it took everything in me to not buy that Sentura. Because that amp would be sweet to have but would also decimate the street I live on. And the wife agreed to let me get some pedals but an $800 amp wasn’t in the cards. And I like to sleep in my actual bed and not on the couch or in my truck

Re: I’m going to World AIDS Day
Got some time with both pedals. The Dispatch Master sounds like a perfect analog delay with reverb circuit. It will repeat forever but it doesn’t self oscillate. It’s actually really cool clean especially blended with the reverb onboard or with the Afterneath. It can make these big beautiful ambient sound scapes. Playing areggios holds the notes longer in repeats and it’s like you have these synth like chords under your playing. Really cool.
The disaster transport is cool. It’s a more traditional analog sounding delay but it has an optional modulation section. Kind of like a chorus ish type deal. But it only affects the repeats. It doesn’t effect the dry/input notes. So it’s cool. I guess the EHX DMM does this too but I’ve never owned one. It has variable speed ranges and a stretch setting that modulates the notes even further from original pitch for crazy sounds. I didn’t run these gained up too much (everyone’s home today) but cleaned and with a light boost they sound awesome. I had heard that some felt the repeats in the older version were dark sounding but that wasn’t the case for me. They really do the ambient soundscape thing well. I did hit them with my Hizumitas/Muff and that sounded sweet. With the Afterneath after it I got all the reverb and delay shenanigans I could ask for.
I still want their Avalanche Run delay because it’s got a tap tempo and would be a great compliment or alternative to my Strymon. I played one yesterday at their demo stations and I dug it. Plus, I don’t think you can hve too many delays (somewhere Ruiner is smiling). But that’s really about it for delays. There’s a few more pedals I do want from them mainly fuzzes and drives and possibly a chorus. I played their Data Corrupter fuzz/synth pedal and that thing was amazing. I really enjoyed that pedal. I don’t think it’s something I would use all the time but I’d love to have it for some solo voicings or unique sounds.
