Once you take the PAF outta the Paul it starts getting weird.

I used to try to convince people that LPs were the best guitars ever but then I realized the less people like them the better the used market gets for me, so let me just send you $700 for this piece of shit and get that out of your house for you.

I'll trade you a Richard Simmons Tone&Sweat VHS boxset for it. Unopened, still in the wrapper.

Too late.

He already traded me the LP for Richard Simmon's "Sweatin' To The Oldies" VHS boxset.

Is that the one that you got on craigslist? We thought it might have had a crack in the fingerboard near the top bout? Then we all decided it was just a scuff?

this is the $900 craigslist find. the guitar was black at first and the line we thought might be a crack is just a hair sized line of paint that didnt get stripped. i dont know how to describe the thing other than "clunky". the neck is the most uncomfortable thing ive ever played, you guys know i got my smashed to a nub pinky which effects my wrist, this neck shape is causing pops and cramps in my wrist in spots i never even knew had parts that could pop and cramp. i never had to work so hard to feel like im playing so slow. then the worst problem of all, there is this constant shrieking kind of weird string noise like nothing ive ever experienced before and i cant get it to go away no matter what i do, i cant even record the thing cause i cant stop the noise, i dont know if its the odd grip the neck gives me or what is going on but it sucks. i kinda forced myself to keep playing the thing thinking eventually ill bond and fall in love with it like so many others but there is no chance at that happening. i do have DGN guitars here in town, maybe ill look into maybe shaving the neck or something down like Page did and try again, it actually does bum me out and it really did take a while for me to admit it but i cant stand the thing lol

I hate some Gibson necks. I had a gorgeous 67 reissue SG Special with the least comfortable neck. I tried to make it work for a couple years and that thing just cramped my hand.

Yeah the old SG necks were weird. I don't think they started to use the normal LP profiles on SGs until the 80s.

Necks are a very personal thing at the end of the day. The one I struggled with the most was my USA Jackson Soloist, it wasn't awful but it was the least comfortable neck I've had. Oddly enough, the neck on my Jackson Star is great and that guitar is literally 1/10 of the cost of the Soloist. Go figure.

It took me awhile to like les pauls too so i get it. I always preferred SG's any day. What neck type is it? Generally there are 50's = phat baseball bats, 60's = thinner and in between. I found like the baseball necks a lot.

You want the slim profile. Like on the classic.

I'm convinced that I don't play a certain music style and technique to get a Les Paul to sound good. I can slap, rake, and dig into the strings on a Strat and get it to sound like a Strat more-or-less, but it's not the same on a Les Paul. I know I'm confused as to how to play a Les Paul. For this I prefer Strats over Les Pauls. Furthermore, my LP doesn't sit right on my lap. It's like it's body-heavy or sump'n and it keeps wanting to tip where the neck goes up.

I really don't mind any of the Gibson neck profiles, I think what I don't really care much for on Gibsons is the fretboard radius. I seem to prefer the feel of Fender and PRS necks which are usually 9.5 - 10. I have a Peavey Reactor that's also a 12" radius, and I really don't care much for it either. I can play them fine, but I seem to prefer 10 and under. But I do love the sound of Gibsons, so I will eventually get myself another Gibson and keep it this time.
