URGENT: Let's talk Domino's Pizza for a moment
So, I find Pizza Hut and Papa John's inedible. I need an ultra convenient pizza for carryout FAST on Friday afternoon. Local stuff is out of the question because it will take an hour, and another 25 minute drive.
I've had domino's twice in the past 10 years. Once, it was great. The other time, it was iffy, but on par with PJ and PH.
Are there any experts here? I was trying to figure out what I got when it was good.
I know I've had these two sauces and these two crusts. I forget what was better in these two contests:
Robust Inspired Tomato Sauce - vs. - Hearty Marinara.
Brooklyn style - vs. - hand tossed. (I'm leaning towards Brooklyn since the HT has the herby oiled crust)
I have about 48 hours to figure this out.

I always go with their default sauce/crust shit when ordering on the app or website. Hand tossed
That said, in my experience, these days it's always a complete crapshoot whether you'll get an epic pizza, or a piece of shit from any of those three establishments. No rhyme or reason

Hmm, this indicates I may have disliked the hearty marinara since that is a secondary option.

Believe it or not 7-11’s pizza is great. They cook a whole pie in 2 min in their oven. It’s like 5 or 6 bucks. Also costco is good too. Now don’t get me wrong we are purely talking ghetto pie here nothing more.

I don't even know if we have a real 7-11 here. We may have one, but it's not conveniently located, and they may not have enough traffic to make food viable.
Costco is a great idea, but again, it's across town through major traffic at rush hour during Christmas shopping by a mall.

Like Devin said. Default sauce and crust. I actually think they are the best cheap pizza chain. My poverty is obviously showing. Though they did remove the 3 for $6.99 deal recently and we stopped ordering because of that The seasonings on their crust is good.

Thanks dudes. I ended up doing default sauce on Brooklyn crust.
Their systems are top notch. I can order days in advance, and have them throw it into my car.

I don’t know what it is about it but one of my favorite foods on the planet is Pizza Hut thin crust pizza.
I never eat any of the other pizza hut stuff or any of the big corporate chain stuff. Well, almost never.

Re: URGENT: Let's talk Domino's Pizza for a moment
Honestly Domino's is my go to for cheap chain pizza. At the locations I've gone to they're just more consistent and they've got INSANE deals sometimes. Like the kinds of deals where you're paying so little for the pizza that they've got to be losing money unless you buy some breadsticks or whatever for $8 to actual get some profit back.
For example I just went on the site and its 50% off all pizzas. You'll regularly get free shit too if you sign up for rewards.
One pizza we always get is the Brooklyn crust, robust sauce, bacon, mushrooms, and onion. Something about that combo from them seems to be greater than the sum of its parts.
Also I really like the online tracker that they've had in place since they rebranded and updated everything like 12 years ago or whenever it was.
Overall we don't really get them that much but they're useful when we've got to feed a bunch of people and don't want to spend a lot of cash.

Re: URGENT: Let's talk Domino's Pizza for a moment
I don't like using the words "Domino's" and "pizza" in the same sentence.
But...if I have to get a chain pizza these days I get the thinnest crust available. The thicker stuff seems to be undercooked about half the time. I figure the less crust, the less crust to screw up.
Seems like most pizza chains are being run by kids these days and the product reflects this. It might be amazing or it might be crap.
I have had the Brooklyn crust and I do remember it being an improvement over their regular crust. And they do have deals a plenty, especially if you pick it up.

My wife and I also don't call it pizza. It's "fat kid food" and when she says that, I know exactly what she means. Domino's when out of town and staying in a hotel is fine. I get the default style pizza with sausage but the fucking cheesey bread is what really separates it from other places. I used to drink eat cheesey bread in high school damned near every weekend.

Re: URGENT: Let's talk Domino's Pizza for a moment
Dominos is always iffy. Sometimes its cool, sometimes, utter fail.
The big surprise for us over the last few years is Casey's. Shitty convenience store turned pizza giant? We have yet to get a bad pizza there. And it ain't the quality of the workers. Most of those folks don't seem like they're completely synced up with reality. Like the dude that spent forty minutes one evening trying to convince me to hire him to clean the snow off my roof. Pretty sure he could barely stand upright on flat ground, so I'm not sure that his new business idea was a great one for him. But by god he could make a fucking pizza.

this, and its very close to my house. its just mediocre, but it kinda works as far as pizza goes.
my favorite pizza in the world is a local shop that's a 20 minute drive and they don't deliver (they don't have to), but that's what i get 99% of the time.

Friday was a success. It was above adequate for the party considering how tight the schedule was and how cheap the pizza was.
So, default sauce was the key. Robust inspired.

There’s a long list of chain restaurants that with rare exception I’ll skip the meal that day instead of eating it. Dominoes is definitely one of those.
I love you all and believe you deserve better than this.

Everyone around here thinks Pizza King is the greatest. I hate it. Their pizzas are NOT pizzas. They are also overpriced

Dominos is ok. It’s better than Caesar’s in that you don’t hate yourself after eating it. But our local chains are Jets and Hungry Howies. And I’d rather have either of those any day.

Sorta. Still have my house in FTW, but I'm about to rent it to my daughter and move to my lake house in Wolcottville. Building a new studio there too.
