Noticed I still had some transformers laying around from an old build.. Hammond 272FX and 1750J. They are rated 600V ct @ 150ma and 40 watts @ 4k / 4R.
I looked at 10-40 watt amps to build. I became interested in revisiting the AC model as my last AC15C1 brought realy nice tones. This build is going to be based on the Brian May version of the amp, with an added traditional Vox AC tonestack. Might make a bypass function for the tonestack.
My 272FX puts out almost 450V on an unloaded filter.. so I have to find a way to reduce this by at least 100V. I was inspired by Zozobra's thread and decided to build a high voltage regulator.
My build has started but i am awaiting for parts at this point. I will post pics of my progress, and a video clip later.
This should be exciting!

nice..... is this the Brian May model that one with just a volume control? always thought those were cool but, I'm sure you'd have to get that SOB cooking before it would give up the goods..... even a 15 watt model would be plenty loud, looking forward to the build

Ok so here's what I looked at before drawing my own version:

And attached is my current working schematic. I will revisit the power supply, none of this is a final value.

Re: AC15 - based on Brian May model
I was just playing my ac15 today. I decided I needed to plug my LP straight in to it. Chewy tones with crunch and cut. Was inspiring in its simplicity.
