New (hybrid) build - custom neck and relic job
A buddy brought over a Strat body and asked if I could make a neck for it. Looked like a good opportunity to use a blank that I had just cut from a billet of roasted maple and purpleheart. The paint had been laid on pretty thick and had run in a few places so I asked him if he wanted me to try and level it out and clear coat the body, but instead he asked if I could put a heavy relic job on it. Totally new territory for me, but it was so much fun I'm probably going to do more. He provided the pickguard, electronics and hardware, and did the hardware relicing himself with muriatic acid vapor. Here are a few pics of the finished product, and a link to the google album in case anyone wants to see the whole process.

looks pretty good to me - definitely what I would call a heavy relic.
I like how you inverted your logo - to match the reversed headstock.
is that an inlay?

Yes sir - the more I banged up the body, the more he wanted
The logo is indeed an inlay, something a friend made for me with a laser cutter.

Many thanks! He hit me up today and said he hasn’t been able to put it down. Hopefully he meant the guitar!

Wow, amazing job on the neck. I’m in the process (slowww process w/ covid and everything now..) of building a guitar. I had shaped and fretted a neck, but it was so much more meticulous than I expected. Yours looks incredible. Kudos!

Thanks man. I think they are something he got from GuitarFetish. And I think he is considering changing them out for something else now. I wasn't terribly fond of their tone(s), but pickups are so subjective...
