English Mastiff follow-up

Post by Hapless »

For those of you who recall my thread about getting a Mastiff from before the HCAF apocalypse, he's now on his third night with us. 21 pounds at 8 weeks old. Already does his business outside more than he does inside, and I only have to tell him no once, maybe twice, to get him to stop doing things I don't want him to do. He absolutely loves my 5 year old daughter. His first night with us, he was a little nervous and kept his tail between his legs up until she came in the room. He came alive and his tail started going and he started giving her puppy kisses.

Just now, he was starting to fall asleep outside his crate, so I opened the crate door wider and told him to go inside. Didn't even think twice, just got up, went inside and laid down and closed his eyes and went to sleep. Definitely the most laid back puppy I've ever seen. My MinPin, who is blind and diabetic, still doesn't know what to think of him, though.

Hap, great to hear! Best thing about larger dogs and house training... they're almost house trained due to their size and keeping to a schedule before it is muscular control. Can't beat that!

Great to hear your boy is settling in fine!

My pugs took a year to house train and I still don't leave the one roaming. This bullmastiff puppy was house trained within a couple weeks. :-bd

Hapless!! Glad to see you over here, brother. I'm counting on you to set the record straight whenever someone posts the inevitable "Fuck the pohleece" thread.

Mastiffs are great dogs. My dad has a boerboel, and the dog is as sweet as can be. He is lazy, but a true sweetheart. Just get ready for the food bill!
