I'm hoping someone would be good enough to share their knowledge about power transformers. I want to build a Champ 5F1 amp from scratch and want keep the costs down. I have an old Peavey15W transistor amp that has seen better days. I was wondering if the power transformer [ given that it's not dead ] would be OK to power the valves in an 5F1 amp ?
My gut feeling was that valves would need a higher DC current than transistors to power them.
Power Transformers Valve vs Transistor ?

Your gut is right. Tubes generally operate at higher DC voltages (but less current) than transistors.

Yes
Tubes are voltage devices and Transistors are current devices.
