Care to elaborate, or do you make more than Tommy? I'd love some stock advice if you've got it all figured out.

I've made a ton this year, but I'm not too proud to want to make more.

And yet my pay was still cut by 3%, insurance costs went up, and they started collecting payroll taxes again. Yay Dow.

I'm not going to prentend to know jack shit about the stock market, and my investments are very safe and managed by a financial guy, but god damnit if I'm not making a killing. Is the whole economy going crash in a doom day scenario? Maybe, but I really doubt it.

And until then

I fill my car up about 10x a year. Each additional $1/gallon only costs me ~$130/year.

Compared to massive gains I've seen this year in my portfolio.

Yeah, gas can do whatever the fuck it wants.

First, the DOW Jones being above 14,000 doesn't mean anything really. It's a conglomerate of 30 stocks, and unless you own all 30 or happen to own the ones that went up, it doesn't mean much. Second, earlier this month it was higher than it currently is, and has been close to 14000 since the beginning of the year. Third, momentary spikes in anything are nothing to get excited about. As you can see, it is now down 73 points for the day so far, and will likely drop more.

That's why I facepalmed.

Yeah, that's how an index works.

Why can't we be excited about overall gains that are indicative of our personal gains?

I can understand a facepalm if he had posted "Yay, the DOW is over 14k, so now I'm ready to invest!!" as if the DOW performance indicated a good time to get started. Or someone that was completely out of touch and was simply celebrating due to a Yahoo headline.

Now, why would you automatically facepalm when someone like Tommy is excited about it? Dude makes a ton of money and is well invested as per his previous posts regarding investments.

Don't be such a dickhead for no reason. There are people other than you that can get excited about things.

i totally understand man. after years of seeing those "$-3000" capital gain losses on so many returns it's nice to see a positive figure here and there, and at least people will have those losses/raep to offset the gains they have coming their way.

I haven't seen any advice in this thread. Not a bit.

Cheering some gains as of late? Yes. Advice? None.
