Dumb question...
I have a piece of digital gear coming tomorrow. Its been shipped by ground from Washington state to NY, I'd imagine its been pretty cold if not frozen the entire trip. Should I let it warm up to room temperature before I fire it up?

Re: Dumb question...
You gave up the Mark and now you're going digital? Whatever this digital equipment may be, I hope you like it.
Re: Dumb question...
Lol at the digital comments. Seriously though, its not a POD, but you could say its like the Ultra pod.
Re: Dumb question...
Yes, let it warm up.

Re: Dumb question...
I always go with the let it warm up theory... I don't know that it matters or not with digital components; but with tubes it does

Re: Dumb question...
Bro got a Kemper I'm guessing. Or a Snax II. Those are really the only options.
Personally, I would let it warm up. At least bring it to room temp before you start spoogin' all over it, jeez.
Common courtesy.

Re: Dumb question...
yeah, let it warm up to room temp. Certainly wouldn't hurt anything.

LOL! This device has spawned many a shit thread, and a catch phrase. Most threads were started by a certain mustachioed man.
Re: Dumb question...
Don't turn on digital gear when it's cold - the 0's stay as 0's but the 1's can sometimes become 0.5's and that's really bad for digital.

Re: Dumb question...
No harm in letting it warm up until it is at or near room temperature - it won't take long. You typically have to be concerned about two lower temperature issues: operating non-condensing low temperature and the non-operating low temperature. The former is the lowest temperature that you can safely operate the equipment when there is no risk of condensation forming on the parts (many consumer items omit the non-condensing part). The latter is just the lowest temp that it can hit, while off, before you run the risk of damage. Because you are in the northeast in winter you probably don't have to worry about the non-condensing part.
Re: Dumb question...
Take any cold item into a warmer environment, and condensation will form on it. That's the danger with electronic equipment. I would let it warm up to room temperature, and then wait a couple more hours to let any condensation dissipate, just to be safe. You could probably plug it in right away, and rock out, but why take the chance?

Ultra.
Good choice.
I can send you some patches if you want. Nolly gave up his Red Seas Fire patch a while back, and it's really good.

Re: Dumb question...
just stick it in the microwave for about 45 seconds and you'll be good to go.

So I let it warm up and everything is good. Thanks for the help dudes. I didn't want to destroy this thing before I was able to squeeze a note out
