Speakers to pair with my Roadster?

Post by TU BE »

Ok, I have the Orange PPC212OB. I swapped out the V30's in it for GT-75's. Now that I am using the Roadster, which is more low mid pronounced, I am thinking of putting some speakers in that will make the high mids stand out a bit more.

I do not play metal anymore. It's more a rocked up country style and I use both my cleans and distortion channels.

Reccomendations? I was thinking the V30 is very high mid pronounced and I know most Recto cabs come with them. Any other ideas or experiences are welcome.

The best sounding Recto I've ever heard was running through a 4x12 Orange cab loaded with G12K-100's, but V30's are awesome too. I use one of each in my 2x12 (not with a Recto, but I still love the combo). I tried it with two G12K's and two V30's, but the one-of-each combo was my favorite.

I don't mean to spam your post, but I'm actually selling my extra V30 and G12K if you'd be interested

I love me some Eminence V12s. I run my RKII through my 4x12 & 2x12 Avatar with V12s in them. I prefer them to the V30.

Working on a possible speaker trade with YOUNGBLOOD for two V30's out of his orange cab.

There are only two amps I really like through Vintage 30s: The Bogner Shiva and Mesa Recto. I would definitely go that route if I owned a Roadster.
Analogman / Bludotone / Bogner / Fargen / Fender / G&L / JAM Pedals / King Tone / RMC / Skervesen / Strymon / Vertex

K100's are a good option too if you don't want to go the v30 route.

Do you get the pop when changing channels roadsters are known for?

Used to have a Roadster head/Roadking 2x12 setup, sounded great. The portholed/C90 side added sparkle/depth to the cleans/inbetween sounds.

Still have the Roadking 2x12 for mobile use. :)

It's a slight pop but nothing loud enough to be bothersome.

The popping... my RKII pops when switching btwn 3/4 & 1/2 if I'm running the gain channels on 4 tubes and the clean on 2 tubes but only the very first time when doing it.

Now the RK 2x12 cab, that is something I wish I could find in stock around me as it would be mine!

My Roadster popped a little in certain switching scenarios, just had to cycle through the channels after first powering on and it was minimized.

On Saturday I swapped speakers with Mr. Youngblood. I traded him my two GT75's for two V30's. Used the V30's at practice on Sunday and couldn't be happier with my decision. There's a good reason that mesa stocks the recto cabs with V30's.
