Question about potentiometer and capacitor values.

I have kind of a newb question.

I want to darken up some of my guitars, and I want to try a 250k pots in my SG. I figured while I'm at it, I'll replace the caps and the rest of the stuff.

So my question is mainly about the tone pots. If I end up using 250k pots for the volume controls, does the value of the tone pot alter anything? My instinct says no, but I figured I'd ask.

Also, any thoughts on cap values? Like I said, I'm trying to darken the end of my guitar, so would one be better over the other (.022 vs .047)???
