One popped up on my local CL. Seems clean in the pictures and the guy is asking $400. I've never played a Mesa before is it worth checking out? Is it very versatile? Does it sound Rec-ish? Kinda looking for a new sound...
Gracias

I used to have one.. The distortion is amazing, very smooth with a sax-like quality to it. The clean channel is nice and sparkly but headroom is somewhat limited. It's a great amp for classic rock, blues and specially jazz/fusion.

Is $400 a decent deal?

Sure, 400 is about average for that amp.

To get more clean head room, swap a 12AT7 or 12AT7s in place of the 12AX7 or 12AX7s used for the clean channel.

DC2s are great amps!
Just so you know, once you join the Mesa/Boogie mob you will eventually want a Mrak.
