Steven Slate Digital VMR is awesome.

Post by Ostinato Rubato »

I bought the Virtual Mix Rack plugin from Steven Slate Digital and it's nothing short of awesome. I just threw it on some previously recorded tracks that were giving me mixing headaches and holy shite does it do a really good job of breathing life into a track really easy and really fast.

seriously great tool. I'll post comparison clips soon.

I reallllllllly want VMR. I used to have VCC, VTM, and FG-X (but I sold my iLok) and fucking loved all of them. I already suffer from option overload, so I think I'd like mixing primarily with Slate plugins...I think I may buy all of them (I also haven't tried VBC but I've heard nothing but fantastic things about it as well). I think it would sound great and would make for a very efficient workflow too. Pretty much all that wouldn't be covered would be reverb and surgical EQing.

Now I'm eyeing the VCC and FG-X. But whatever.

Meanwhile the VMR is seriously good. I've never heard software add so much polish to an average sounding track. But then again, I haven't heard much software for mixing mastering anyway.

Also, God Toto sucks. I got curious about Toto songs I've never heard since all I know is Africa and Hold the Line and I'm playing a playlist right now. Fucking awful.

Honestly Cole, it'd be worth it IMO to drop the $150 on the Slate VMR. You will be surprised at how un-digital it sounds and what it can make a C+ quality track sound like.

I'll probably post 2 comparisons tomorrow. I was up really late fucking around with it and getting to know it last night and made a couple of my clipies sound much MUCH better.

Damn! Those two clips are like night and day!

Seriously though I'd like to hear these as I'm interested in the plugs myself.
