I was driving home from work and one of the cooler local stations played a song by a band from Texas called, Old 97's.
Apparanely, they've been around for 20 years and it sounds like they finally have a winning tune.
The song is called, "We've Been Doing This Longer Than You've Been Alive".
It's got some good tone, it starts off on a soap box, builds up to a mountain and I think you guys will dig the lyrics.
I liked enough to post... just curious to see what everyone thinks....

Good sound. I dig the tune. Certainly written for musicians.
Trying to decide if the recording is lofi or in protools and designed to sound lofi.
Has a fair amount of 'fostex' to the sound ya dig?

I've never gotten into them. To be honest, all these years I didn't even know they were a Texas band! Don't get me wrong, I don't hate them and they seem like cool dudes, but they've always striked me as a Wilco style band who I am also not a fan. Though admittedly I do l like Son Volt which is kinda similar.
But please don't mistake this band as having a Texas sound. To be honest I'm not convinced they're actually from Texas.

Nah, I'd never mistake them as having the Texas sound... definitely in the Wilco camp, though.
The song stood out from the rest of the play list on the radio that day. Just putting it out there for second opinions.
