Tips for 'sweetening' up a mix

So I've got sounds that work with eachother etc. But how do I polish the hole track? any tips?

You need a plugin like Ozone 5 which has modules for EQ, Harmonic exciter, compression and stereo widening. The process you are talking about is called mastering which is basically shaping your master bus once the mix is done.

As for in th realm of mixing, saturation plugins on your bass tracks, vocal and drum buses, and master bus. Good freebies are TesslaPro or FerricTDS. A very light bus compressor on the master bus. Slate VCC on every track if you want to go the extra mile. More character compressors on the tracks with very light settings, I like what the Pensadia SOR8 does for bass guitar (Distressor modeler).

I agree with nakedzen. A tape saturation plugin. The compressor and limiter on the master bus is good for 'mastering' type functions, but a saturation plugin may help add a little sparkle to the track. Or not. It doesn't hurt to try.

Antress has free vst plugin called "analoger" which has various presets including tape and tube coloration. There are also a wide rand over other plugins in same "modern" series including limiters, compressors, eq, etc.
