It's the Jaguar Mute assembly. Developed to make palm muting possible with the bridge cover still on. It increases the pitch when used though and never really sounds quite right. I think Leo overextended on this one and didn't realize players weren't going to keep the bridge covers on. Honestly, I only keep it on because it looks cool. I think there may be usable sounds when using the mute but they aren't for me.
