New Mastodon streaming

Post by JiveTurkey »

New Mastodon track streaming right here. It is more stripped down ala The Hunter but I think it is catchy as f**K

Looks like nothing is going to top crack the skye just yet. Boring, like the hunter. It's better though.

Remission will always be the best Mastodon album to me. CtS is dope though

I dug The Hunter as well. Despite the lack of traditional singing skills, I think their melodic vocals are great.

I dig it. Gonna be hard for them to top Hunter in my opinion. Really love that album.

I saw them a couple nights ago with Gojira and Kvelertak a couple nights ago and was fucking blown away.

In case anyone hasn't seen this, there is a fairly decent sounding video (considering its live) of another new song they're playing on this tour. Good shit.

I like Leviathan the best with Remission and Blood Mountain after that. Saw them live way back in the day with The Sword and it was awesome. Then I saw them with Deathklok and High on Fire and they bored the shit out of me. But that was when Crack the Sky was released and for some reason I found that album a little too meandering.

Remission is my favorite with leviathan short behind. I hated cracked the skye for like a year after it came out, then something clicked or something and I love it now

Remission and Leviathan are the only records of theirs I've ever been able to get into. I keep giving them a chance with every record since then but keep coming up empty. Based on this new song, that's not going to change. I have a certain respect for the direction in which they've been going musically, but I have no interest in listening to it.

Here's another new one. Seems fairly straight-forward. I have only listened once but I am still partial to the first tune they released. Regardless; it's pretty rockin' as well :rawk:

I hope to catch those guys on tour. Nothing close to me yet.

Ok I have been listening to this for the last few days. Overall I like the songs and it's not quite as stripped down as The Hunter (which I liked parts of as well).

Guitar work is excellent - the tones are not as thick and sludgy as in the past but I think I like them.

The bass tone is really carrying this thing over all - so fucking good.

It's growing on me. Better than The Hunter for sure. However, after like Track #5 it all kinda blends together. I need more time with each song and not just "the album" altogether.

They're sooo hit and miss live. They completely blew at RotR. I haz'd a sad too cuz I was wearing a Mastodon shirt...

My only complaint about the album is how they destroyed aunt Lisa at the end. Wtf were they thinking?

There are for sure some :freak: moments on the record as to where a song goes, and not in a good way either.

Still not getting into it. I'm glad they're doing what they do, but I just don't think I can ride the Mastodon.

The first few songs are really awesome. I was listening to it before bed and I was kept awake by replaying The Motherload over and over in my head. That chorus riff is sweet.
