Re: Porcupine Tree
Yeah I dig these guys.
Last I heard they were using Bad Cat amps. Not sure if that is still true or not.

Re: Porcupine Tree
They're cool, good writing, tho I sometimes find myself wondering if christian rock is trying to sound like porcupine tree or vice versa.
You anted up a narcissistic boil and a conniving witch. Thanks America. Signed, the world.

Re: Porcupine Tree
Awesome band. In Absentia was always my favorite with Stupid Dream a close second and Fear of a Blank Planet not far behind. If you like them and In Absentia, Steve Wilson's recent solo record, The Raven that Refused to Sing is also definitely worth a listen as well.
Wu-Tang is for the children.

Re: Porcupine Tree
I love PT! I went through a phase of listening to these them exclusively for about 2 years when I first discovered them...I ended up getting all their albums. I like Absentia, Fear of Blank Planet, Nil Recurring and the live acoustic We Lost The Skyline.

Re: Porcupine Tree
i love PT and i'm a metal head through and through (was just jamming some Entombed 'Left Hand Path' and Darkthrone tonight). If you can't get down with dudes like this or Opeth, then you don't really know what truly amazing music is.

Re: Porcupine Tree
Let me get on board the love train!
Live, Steven Wilson has used a bad cat amp and cab the three times I've seen them. He did use an slo when I saw him play with Blackfield but that might have been borrowed for all I know.
In the studio I get the feeling he'll mix things up as he feels like. He uses line 6 pods for some stuff but I think the heavier distortions are some kind of amp through a 4x12 with what to my ears anyway sounds like greenbacks.

Fear of a Blank Planet is one of my top 10 all time albums. Their whole Anaesthetize DVD is up on YouTube. It is amazing how tight they are as a band too.
And they use Bad Cat Lynx amps. Unf.

Love me some Porcupine Tree. Especially Fear of a Blank Planet.

Re: Porcupine Tree
It's kind of a shame Steven Wilson seems to have got bored of the PT format for the time being - he's been really into his solo project with a different band, production/mixing work and various collaborations that aren't Porcupine Tree.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Great musicians, some good songs, a lot of filler and not totally my thing.
I've heard several songs on streaming radio that I don't change, but I've yet to hear a song that made me purchase any of their stuff.

Re: Porcupine Tree
I am pretty much ghey for Steven Wilson and everything he touches. Yes, that includes Opeth's Heritage.
Re: Porcupine Tree
I am a metal head, and prog guy through and through. I have wanted to like these guys, listened to them quite a bit, and just don't get it. i feel similar with Opeth. I WANT to like it, but just don't. I get bored, and lose interest quickly. I recognize the talent, but have no interest at all.

It always amazes me when these guys want to tell "their side of the story"
