The Tone King plays horribly. Strangled cat leads. The amp sounds pretty good despite him.

Hahah thats funny how he stopped playing once EVH showed up.

That's probably the best tone TTK ever had though, that rhythm crunch sounds fucking great <3

How the fuck is TTK so popular? He seems like a nice enough fella but his videos are pointless: mediocre playing, low quality video and audio, really poor comparisons.

It looked like a good experience for him, and he didn't sound that bad. I can at least speak for myself as to why I subscribe to TTK on YouTube. I'm not a huge fan, and I'm not amazed by his playing or tone. It's just that I love guitar, and his love and enthusiam for the instrument comes across in his videos as genuine. That's cool enough for me to sometimes click a video and see what gear he's trying out or interested in, the same way that I'll read threads here despite not usually knowing anything about how a lot of you guys play or sound. He has a format and style that stands out compared to the average guy wanking in his living room over a web cam, so people pay attention. I think his production values are actually pretty good, and the audio and video quality are professional enough. How he mics and dials in amps are another thing, but video production quality, personality, and his love of the instrument are his draw, I think.

1000 times this. Regardless of his playing ability he seems to really love guitars, amps, and gadgets. Just like the rest of us.

Props to TTK.

ToneKing missed an opportunity.

I would have asked Eddie to make the face. You know.....THAT FACE.

And then I would ask him for a lock of his hair, in my creepiest voice.

Didn't you guys gave him tips on what recording gear to use for his vids? The guy was surprisingly nice and was open to suggestions back then when a lot of people ragged on him, myself included.

Yeah, that's actually a really good point. He's an enthusiast, not a professional, and that enthusiasm is great.

Yeah, when he visited HCAF he proved to be pretty damn cool. Took the brutality like a man and then did a really cool review just for us.

Aside from TTK, I think EVH looks and sounds very healthy these days. I remember how horrible his smoker's voice sounded when interviewed about the design of the 5153 amps, and just thought he didn't look like he should sound that bad when he talks. This time around, he seems to be taking care of himself. Good spirits, sober, healthy, this is how we always want to see EVH. Been a long road but this is probably the best he's looked in 20 + years

thanks I also just found this pic.

but your site let me know if there was independent EQ. I'm very intrigued by this. Always been a combo guy vs head/cab guy. Also just so happens to be my dream amp since I first played it. If it sounds anything like the 100W head then I def do want :D
