Here's the first song I ever heard with a part I knew to call a breakdown. And while it's pretty tame compared to modern breakdowns, it's still pretty fucking cool. Here it is, cued up to the good part:

I feel lucky that I like both August Burns Red and Morbid Angel. There's plenty of great metalcore just like there's plenty of shitty death metal... However, I do totally understand the desire to distance oneself from that movement when there's shit like Attila and Asking Alexandria plaguing art and mankind in general.

I like this post a lot. Not in the specific case of ABR, I don't know there stuff, but the general statement.

I agree with both of these posts I like August Burns Red's first two albums, kinda lost interest after that
