I haven't done much with it yet, just scrolling through the amps that came with it but it sounds really good so far. The 800 and 5150 are pretty accurate IMHO. I already like it better than the modelers/profilers I've owned before. It sounds very natural and it is extremely easy to use. I am fairly certain I am going to keep this, at the very least to use it in the studio. The tones I'm getting from it are definitely good enough for my studio use and that alone is worth the price of admission. I doubt I will ever use it live, but I will try it out at practice at some point.

But yeah this is a good unit.

Please report back once you've had a chance to use it at practice. Sounds like a good experience so far :thu:

some of the Tone Net downloads are much better than the factory ones. Just filter what your looking for ... guitar, amp only/amp and cab, clean/drive/high gain, etc. or it gets to be too much

i've seen Gorilla amp captures ... not all heroes wear capes

Yeah I'm going to dive into it next.
But I really like some of the stock amps. The stock SLO is great too.

One thing I wish it had is the ability to run different cabs for each output, or even different mics. That would help the recording process but it's not that big a deal.

The update is I sent it back

It's a good pedal though, as far as modeling goes it's the best I've heard so far.

as soon as i get some free time  , i'm gonna get his Lee Jackson preamp pack and noodle away on some early Zakk Wylde tones lol

OT: my brother scored me a Headrush FRFR-108 for $40 ... and it sounds just slightly less horrible than the FRFR-112 i sold after 3 days.
Is there a cheap-ish pedal with a high-pass and low-pass filter? i have a Presonus ParaEQ, but it only has a lowpass filter.

I know you sent this back , but does anyone know if one output can have an IR enabled to go to FOH and the other without to go to a power amp for stage monitoring?

No. It's either one IR or no IR for both outputs. I'm sure that's something that can be changed with future firmware upgrades, but at the moment that's not possible.

Ah piss. That's not going to be a problem in the immediate term and that does seem like low hanging fruit to fix.

I just had a little play with the tonex software and it seems alright. I need to dig into the user profiles. A job for tomorrow.

I've been using the Palmer Pocket Amp to bang out ideas... it doesn't sound good enough to use as finished tracks.
This Tonex pedal sounded like like the next step for me.... until you sent it back!!!

Don't let that discourage you from buying it. It's a good sounding pedal. I really have nothing negative to say about it.

I've thought about this and I can pretty much get the kartakou colossus for not much more and that comes with an ir loader now too, so that might be on the cards

The Colossus is a real deal preamp. I'd get the before the Tonex any day.

I still have the Mosvalve 500w here and a G-Major 2 so it would be pretty easy for me to set up a rack again. I just need to find a cool preamp at the right price. People have been asking super high prices for this kind of stuff.

I can pick one up for £360 new on reverb. For now I'm happy just sending tracks back and forth with my friend using the archetype gojira vst. My friend has been using a rat+800 patch he made on valeton GP-200LT and honestly it sounds pretty great.

Yeah I'd love to find something cool under $400.

I've ordered myself a 5150 preamp PCB. I have a vacant rack chassis and I've just ordered a cool looking tube amp smps to use in place of a conventional transformer which spits out 350VDC@160mA and also has 4A 6.3 and 12.6VDC rails. I've also ordered a 5 channel mrak style eq board to stick on the output. Should be a fun build. No clean channel

The smps will feed a little SS power amp module so I can play at low volume without needing to fire up my classic 120.

Man I wish I had the ability to build something like that, but I wouldn't know where to start. So I have to resort to waiting for a good deal to pop up online somewhere lol.

Preamps aren't as tricky as full amps and there is nothing all that expensive in them that can be fucked up all that badly
Difficulty wise it's probably a bit less tricky than a pedal pcb as there is more space to work in. I'll be documenting the build for sure.

Same dude has a bunch of cool stuff. Most interesting to me is a mrak ii+ PCB with independent channel gains/masters and that'll fit in a 1u chassis. He does a Deliverance preamp and a Wizard MTL lead channel preamp PCB too.
