The fact that when someone says, hey did you hear about the dude from RT and the hooker? and the response is a which one? Is telling.
Those guys would murder a whole hooker parade to go back to being coked out in the 80's.

You’d think with the amount of coke presumably done they wouldn’t have the Ronald and Nancy’s schlongs so lodged down their throats :o

Yeah....

Didn't the brad king guy that used to own RT and bought the cameron name also go to jail for beating up a hooker?

Those boys do not treat the ladies of the night well over there

Yeah Brad King kidnapped and beat up a hooker while partying out in California trying to "resurrect" the Cameron brand.

But I haven't seen the murder part yet. Which member was it?

That guy is a murderer? Holy shit, I met that guy! I met up with him to buy a speaker but didn't because it was a 16 ohm speaker and he had mistakenly told me it was an 8. I'm glad the mistake in communication was his and not mine, or else he may have cut my throat.

I do remember thinking he was a creepy guy.

Man that’s crazy.

I’ve been over there since like ‘09 or something; I mostly just read the main forum and the classifieds anymore, gotten some good deals from time to time.

That shit is nuts.

Also to be fair, if it turned out that charvel Dan had giant mason jars full of ground up hookers in his basement I don't think any of us could even begin to feign surprise.

I'd be surprised he has a basement. Last I heard he lived in a studio apartment.

When the great and mighty purge happened on HC, I hung three places. SSO, Open Jam, and Rig Talk. Rig Talk now makes me miss the Open Jam characters. I mean, the worst you could say about any of them was the dude that lived with his mom and talked about watching that Allan Degenerate show, and was convinced that Allan was the actual devil. At least Open Jam had funny characters. Rig Talk is like the leftovers of the worst 80s party of all time. You know the ones. Where everyone there is convinced they're the reason everyone else is there, nobody's sober, most are using a cocktail of drugs that would sterilize an elephant, and nobody is going to remember 99% of what happened.

Rig Talk is the morning after that party. Except with the shame and guilt of the morning after replaced with pride and anger.

I used to frequent there too, but it was too disorganized to really enjoy it.

Honestly, I was pretty fine with it until they started hopping hosts every couple weeks trying to lose "the wrong crowd." Apparently I was part of the wrong crowd, cause they lost me.

RT used to be go-to site for years. As far as talented people showing skills and talking gear, that part really seemed to go downhill. That Ozzy guitarist from Houston passing was a super bummer- I really liked his posts and after hanging online for 10+ years, it is sobering..there was another guy who passed, I can't remember his name, but goddamn he had some exquisite gear. Last few posts he was raving about Fane speakers and had me gassin lol. That fractal guy was fun too, but I think he is having health issues and hardly posts anymore. When Mailman passed last year it just kind of phased me out. I loved that guy.

Yeah it was my favorite place outside of HCAF, then here. It is sad that went downhill like it did. It started with the OT section, but eventually people look at that stuff and don't want to be part of that shit altogether. Having politics on music forums is just :freak: That said, they still seem to be busy so who knows. Maybe that's the way to go these days. But no thanks, I checked out when that shit started.

JiveTurkey also put together a cool forum called The Gear Forum that seems great. I need to start posting there more often.
I also use TGP occasionally, although that forum is loaded with old bitter people who want to shit on everything done after the 60s. And the word filter that blocks out cuss words, ugh.. that's the main reason I left HC. But there are some good discussions there and at least is music centered.

I am all for supporting any and all good gear forums, I'm not cagey about here and it's not a business for me so the more the merrier IMHO. But the bullshit going on at RT off topic is just ridiculous so I'm out of that one.

Agreed... It was already a shadow of its former self (which is why I moved here...), but it really took a turn for the worse when the OT section not only allowed but participated in and encouraged (at least by lack of moderation) the shit show. That section adds zero value to guitar, gear or music discussions, but it must drive traffic. One thing the OT section does exceptionally well is allow individuals I would never want to hang or do business with to self-identify...

The thing is, forums and social media will always be moderated.

The only question is who does the moderation, the staff (by setting forum rules), or the trolls (by running off everyone they don't agree with).

But there's no such thing as no moderation. It just doesn't exist. I've learned that fast enough when I started this forum.

Understood - and agree. There is "moderation", but it's essentially tacit approval of the troll/gang mentality behavior...

RE: tgp, I feel like the crowd there has shifted a bit. Less blues lawyers and more belligerent insecure poor people with tin ears.
Definitely still largely old guys but half the people Ike these days I feel like the biggest snob there

I’m also far more douchey and argumentative there than I am on other forums lol

Yep. That's exactly what's happening there. It sucks because I'm an 80s/rack guy and RT was great for it. Oh well.

Same here - there were some super-cool people there that helped with suggestions when I was building my first real rack setup. They are long gone.

You know it's bad when you can truthfully say the place was in better hands with "El Jefe"

I used to love RT. Guys were really helpful with some technical stuff and I had some great deals over there both as a buyer and a seller.

Loved all the stuff with vintage Marshall’s and Charvels but now it just doesn’t seem the same.

I use to read a few threads over there on occasion and this thread made me go back and visit, there was some actually informative stuff and posts on the gear and clip side of things, nothing to crazy from what i read and saw

Then i went to check the OT and its a bit of the wild west
