I figured it would be another nice little gear resource. But upon further reading, goddamn they are swimming in dumb conspiracies and complete detachmemt from reality.

I used to hang there - and still check-in for the classifieds and actual "rig talk" - but it's a cesspool. The primary driver of traffic is the four or five nut-huggers in the Off Topic section and their non-stop conspiracy theory bullshit. They dominate the place - with tacit support from the mod. All of the good people have been driven off or rarely post.

Proof positive that banning politics and incendiary topics is the best choice - if you actually want to have a forum about guitars and gear...

Agreed! I remember a subject getting out of control regarding Phineas and Ferb vs Milo Murphy's Law. Some people!

I have never heard or seen anyone say anything negative about Zakk. As far as I've been told by the wife of one of his longtime roadies/techs, he is as sweet, kind and fun as any person on Earth. He treats everyone he meets like a old friend. She said he is a big hearted softy. So that doesn't surprise me at all.

The flip side of that is the thread about the member that recently turned out to be a murderer. Killed a hooker (Or escort? Or ??) and then dumped her body in the woods. Dude used to be pretty active in buying/selling on R/T...

Rig Talk was bad years ago, and it's even worse in recent times. probably the biggest dumpster fire of a gear forum

The murdered hooker story was wild. I don't remember the details though  was fairly recent

Yeah....

Didn't the brad king guy that used to own RT and bought the cameron name also go to jail for beating up a hooker?

Yeah Brad King kidnapped and beat up a hooker while partying out in California trying to "resurrect" the Cameron brand.

But I haven't seen the murder part yet. Which member was it?

yeah Todd was a monster player indeed. And a really nice guy. He was part of the old school RT crowd, which as great. many of them left the site unfortunately. And before that he was at the old guitar.com forum, which was really cool in the late 90's/early 00s.
Anyway, I've talked to Todd about Ozzy guitarists many times and he knew all the details about their tones and playing. What Zakk did for him was awesome, I am sure it was a big moment for him. RIP.

There are still some good people there, but many of the old guard are either gone or post infrequently. The groundwater from the Off-Topic cesspool is leaching into the other forums.

It's much nicer at GGF :thu:
