On Civ I can relate. I do not buy Civ games anymore because no matter when I start I don't quite before 1-4 am regardless of my next day. I cannot bring this pox upon my house.

For RDR2 say it ain't so. Arthur Morgan is bae. Maybe I was conditioned because I liked the first one so much but I absolutely loved the story. It definitely drags out longer than it should but I loved the story. So many fun and interesting characters. That said I 100% get the loop thing. Shoot, duck, run, shoot, steal the thing, return to camp/town/some other place with said thing to do the next thing. I also just loved the world/graphics on big as nice Samsung.

Side note, Civ6 with the latest expansion is the damn pinnacle man. Its so good.

If you have a nice hotas set up then give elite dangerous a spin. It's not without its flaws but the space flight model is brilliant. I think it's currently on sale. You want the deluxe edition with horizons if you do go for it.

It's also totally insane in VR...

Ha yeah focusing on the main story will definitely suck you in more than hunting and fishing (which I also enjoy TBH). Arthur is such a fun character thats hard not to love. Sound track in the latter half of the game is great too.
I've always heard great things about witcher but have never taken the plunge.

As for Civ I'll just ignore that. I'm finally putting in less hours lately on gaming and its been a benefit to my mental health. Civ games really REALLY suck me in.

Years later I sold my UO account on ebay for a couple hundred bucks

You should play DLC if you haven’t already! Honestly you should compete the 2nd DLC before New Game Plus because it adds a completely new upgrade system.

I can tell you why it sucks me in.
I love strategy games, history, politics, etc.
All the things Civ throws together just strikes a bunch of notes that go well together in me.

This is especially true when I've properly resource starved another Civ while going HAM on technological development and get to use a tank against an archer or a dude with a musket.
