What video games are you playing?

Post by K-Bizzle »

During quaratine my video game play time has grown by 100X.
I went from playing 1-4 hours a week to closer to 20+ probably and I'm sure I'm not alone so I thought I'd make a thread.

Currently I've been playing Monster Hunter World. I've played it a TON with a couple of my friends which as been cool. The learning curve is steep but the hunt/craft equipment/fight stronger monster/repeat loop is really rewarding once you get the hang of everything.

Prior to this I was playing Red Dead Online but kind of run out of things to do aside from making more money for cosmetic stuff that I didn't really care about.

What are you guys playing?

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition (remaster)

Was playing Bloodborne prior to the XBC remaster coming out; I'm at the very end of that. I'll go back and finish it eventually

Right now it’s Pokémon Shield and Star Wars: Fallen Jedi. I mix in some older Madden for a break here or there

I pretty much have 2-3 hours a night after our kid goes to sleep, and that includes guitar and time with my wife...so I don’t get much in. Switch has been great for this because I just grab handheld for a few minutes here or there too.

It took me 11 months to beat RDR2’s story

I played Mario Kart on the switch for the first time this weekend with my 14 year old. I haven't played a Mario Cart game since the original Wii, like almost a decade.

Apparently the 14 year old smokes all the other kids. So I asked him to remind me how to gas, brake (who actually uses brakes in Mario Cart though?), drift, and use items. Right out the gate he was like "crap...."

Still doing COD MW and Warzone....finished the Battle Pass and got to level 100 a few weeks ago and topped out at 155 last week (max level). I've been leveling up guns waiting for the new season; it'll be another $20 but it's worth it to me for the guns, XP tokens and the cosmetic shit cause why not.

Hoping to get back to work this week, probs be less time to play.

Man I loved that game.
In particular I loved the war mode or whatever it was called.

The offense/defense of specific objectives is my favorite way to do a FPS. TDM just trying to get the best K/D ratio got REALLY old to me considering COD has been effectively putting out the same game with better graphics, new maps, and slightly different mechanics for like 10+ years at this point.

My buddy and I are playing Divinity Original Sin 2. It's as close to D&D as you can get. I wouldn't advise playing alone but with a friend it's so fun. Very hard and battles take like 45 mins. Chick Fu of content to the point of being overwhelmed. Best RPG I've played.

Are there any good games for the PC these days? As hard as I try, I can't get into consoles. It's all about proficiency with the controllers. I suck at it. I have two Xbox One X systems and several games, but I always fall back on golf games because controller skill is far less crucial to the outcome. I have a NIB X56 HOTAS and rudder pedals waiting on Microsoft to release the new Flight Simulator, so that will be cool, but it would be nice to have something else to play...

All the ones I'd recommend would be best played with an Xbox controller

And therein lies the issue :D

Once the new MS Flight Simulator is released, I'll be happy for a while. Flight Sims are my jam. Super-realistic is great, but so is crowd-sourced A-10's paired against WWI prop planes (die you less capable foreigner!) And I do have F1 2019 and a really nice Logitech wheel + gas/brake/clutch/shifter setup. I'd just like the option to go back and play Quake, Quake II, Doom (and variants). Probably not terribly challenging by today's standards, but a fun way to kill some time and smoth over the aggression buildup...

I've been playing Animal Crossing and I also finally bought Red Dead Redemption 2, so I alternate between those 2.

My friends tried to get me into it during quarantine and I refused.
Not because I have anything against the game but I've got serious problems with addiction to games that are heavy on numbers and grinding.

I feel like I'm a really weird place right now. Playing shit because I'm bored but I'm not really enjoying it but also I'm playing more than I ever have. :idk:

I've been putting HOURS into Civ VI but I'm kinda over it. Its super addicting to me though so if I fire it up at 10pm I'm playing til 2 at least  I have something like 300 hours in the game since I bought it at release, might be time to move on.

I've been playing RDR2 but I don't find the story/setting that engaging so I can really see the gameplay loop. I'm not loving it.

Tried the Witcher 3, got so bored so fast. Coming off Fallen Order I just couldn't get with the janky combat.

I've found the older I get I need games to be more and more specifically tailored to my tastes or I don't really like them.

On Civ I can relate. I do not buy Civ games anymore because no matter when I start I don't quite before 1-4 am regardless of my next day. I cannot bring this pox upon my house.

For RDR2 say it ain't so. Arthur Morgan is bae. Maybe I was conditioned because I liked the first one so much but I absolutely loved the story. It definitely drags out longer than it should but I loved the story. So many fun and interesting characters. That said I 100% get the loop thing. Shoot, duck, run, shoot, steal the thing, return to camp/town/some other place with said thing to do the next thing. I also just loved the world/graphics on big as nice Samsung.

I played like 3 hours of Fallen Jedi, I need to get back into it. Don’t know why I stopped.

I loved RDR2, but it took me almost a year to finish it. That’s mostly due to having a 4 month old when it came out. I hit a point where I had to ride across the map and fast tracking it wasn’t an option. I was pissed an unwilling to spend the 20 minutes when I really only got like 30-60 minutes at most at night to play

But yea, I have an Xbox One X and a higher end 4K UHD tv...it looks incredible. The new COD campaign looked even better to be honest
