I'm digging Mare of Eastown quite a bit. But Handmaid's Tale needs to wrap up soon. We haven't started it and I am not sure I really want to.

If you want your emotional beatings with a side of misogyny and a serious dose of "nobody's crueler too women than women, unless its men controlling the women who are crueler to women," then step right up! Rape ceremonies included!

Yeah they should have wrapped it up last season. Or the one before(?) where they had the perfect blend of sympathy and momentum instead of dragging it out further.

The Nevers seemed to cross some sort of . . . something this week. Only showing half the main group during the hanging and subsequent riot was a little. . . odd. Though, truth be told, the main dark haired chick and the doctor's shenanigans are ruining the whole show. I don't mind love scenes here or there, but every time they're on screen together it's a mess of ick and squishy noises. WTF are they? Teenagers?

I'm assuming Mare's gonna get a beatdown from her chief for not leaving shit alone. She was busier working the case this week than before she got put on leave.

At least we had Great North and Bob's Burgers this week to break up the monotony of the emotional beat-down most TV is. I really need to figure out a way to fit in Solar Opposites too. That one looks like fun.

What am I missing with Great North? I watched one episode and thought it was horrible. I do love Bob's Burgers.

I am enjoying The Nevers but it has been 40 years since I was its target audience.

Mare of Eastown is great. Watched The Sister on Hulu the other day. Quick 4 episode run UK mini-series; paranormal/police procedural thing. Didn't get too lost in the weeds. Enjoyable. Started the latest season of Handmaid. It's ok but I am certainly ready for her to get her vengeance and GTFO.

Jupiter's Legacy

It wants so badly to be a kinder, gentler The Boys but ends up pretty boring. And sloooooooow. Its "deep questions" are just not at all compelling. The old age makeup would right at home in a high school production of Our Town.

In an attempt to increase our TV happiness quotient, we did episode one of "Crime of the Century." It's an HBO documentary about Purdue, the Sackler family, and how they used marketing and flat out hiring FDA "experts" to cultivate the opioid crisis. I'd seen some of the footage previously on news programs, Jon Oliver and some other documentaries that covered opioids as part of the overall drug culture, but this one dives deep and hard on just the "Hillbilly Heroin" as its called. Man, some of those Purdue dudes need a giant bag of dicks for supper for the rest of their lives. What a bunch of stains.

The one dude that had a spectacularly high tolerance level to poppy derivatives so they used him as "proof" that you can't overdose on their time release shit was really shitty. He was even telling them that he could tell his body was basically in toxic shock and their reaction was, "that just means you need to take more of it." Holy fuck, what a bunch of shit fucks.

New season of Love, Death, and Robots

A few episodes in and, while not as awesome as S1, still some of the strangest, most interesting TV out there.

So far this Jupiters Legacy show is better than I anticipated. Politics are a bit incoherent (typical these days) and why the fuck Supermen roll around with blackeyes is beyond me (and how do they even get fucked up on drugs?!) but whatever first two epis kept me interested.

Do not. . . I REPEAT: DO NOT! watch Sasquatch that Hulu is advertising the fucking hell out of.

I mean, there are moments along the way where you'll think it's vaguely interesting, but the end result is . . . so not worth it.

Here, let me help you out. This is spoilerish, but I'm not putting it in tags because I'm trying to prevent you from wasting three plus hours on this sloppy bullshit that shouldn't have been made.

Weed growers in the high country tell tall tales about Big Foot killing peeps to keep workers and other growers on their toes. They also lie constantly about each other. OH! BIG FUCKING SHOCK!

Really, this is a dude making a documentary about something from his past because it bothered him. Do the fucking research and STFU about it dude. This was stupid. And I like documentaries. But this one made me want to throw away our TVs. It's sad those dudes died, but you didn't do them a service here. In fact, you didn't do anybody a service. You made me think they probably should be dead, along with everybody else involved in the incident that lead you to want to make this shit documentary. Including you.

And that's more than that shitty show deserves.

Most Dangerous Game. Christoph Walz and Ugly Thor in some 8 minute per episode series. Not sure how the execution (lol) would go; but watched it in one sitting. Fast pace, pretty light on it's feet in general.

Nevers went weird. And for the most part I dig the type of weird they went with, but somehow it just didn't fit what they did with the rest of the season.

I'm sure they'll make up for it when they return with some super fuckery story wise. :idk:

Started watching Mosquito Coast on Apple TV. First episode was actually surprisingly good despite having really no expectations for it. Interested to see how it plays out.

Handmaid's Tale: Now THAT'S what we've been waiting for. June's visit with Serena was fucking FIRE. Like, she's spitting mad, literally, ripping Serena to shreds and I'm cheering like it's the last seconds of a championship football game and my team's about to make the winning touchdown. Fuck me have we waited a long time for that shit. The only thing that could have made it better was if June cunt-punched the whore and made her miscarry. God damn, that would have been glorious.

Serena running back to Fred like a little bitch was the icing on the cake. She'll do anything, even tolerate his putrid fucking face, to pretend everything is OK. Stupid bitch. I can't wait to watch those two burn.

Finished up Mosquito Coast on Apple TV. Good ending that sets itself up for something else perhaps? We'll see. Good pace, good ratio of action to family drama.

Started Lisey's Story. Some Stephen King adaptation. Great cast and excellent visuals but trippy for all the wrong reasons so far and just boring. I am not familiar with the source material but as much as I really loved King's stuff as a kid; he has been at it a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time and his good stuff to bad stuff is not as one sided of a balance as it once was.

Traditionally, even his best stories get turned into crap sandwiches when it comes to TV or movie adaptations. Though there were a couple not too long ago that were far better than average, I'd still bet money on a new one being poor to "fuck you" level bad rather than good.

We finished up Casual last week. Eesh. Another purported comedy that isn't really funny. It's drama with the odd moment of ???. And while there are laughs, they're more in the uncomfortable vein than the "this is haha" vein. I did find their "The Last Superbowl" plotline funny, but in the "that's multi-billion dollar industry you think will just go away because reasons" type of vibe.

It's a good show, don't get me wrong, it's just not a comedy. Also, those people are super fucked up. I'm really surprised they didn't take the logical conclusion and have not-sis fucking not-brother with sorta daughter/niece running the camera. It seemed like so much of that show was about sex and weirdness I really figured they were gonna go there.

Most importantly: would the main gal's assistant. With the glasses on. :fap:
