Dude that, Breaking Bad and Californication sum up the best TV I’ve ever watched. Gandolfini was fuckin prefect for that role. P was not convinced on either Sopranos or Breaking Bad but after a few episodes of each she was all in for 6-10 hours at a time. Californication was a slower burn for her but same after a few episodes, she wanted to watch the whole thing in like a month.

Just watched Chappelle’s new half hour or whatever. Dude can always make me think. Don’t go in expecting a laugh, but it’s definitely Dave.

That Chappelle special was very heavy.

Yeah I knew he was gonna go at it but I didn’t think he’d go that hard.

The Dorner analogy was apt though.

Yeah I didn't think it would be as current as it was. Dude is not afraid to tell it how he sees it.

On a completely lighter note; binged F is for Family. Such a great show. Especially if you grew up with a tourettic blue collar dad in the 70s

Started watching the Mandalorian with my youngest. Not sure why I avoided it so long; maybe the whole I'm not doing this Disney thing? Halfway through and so far; loving it. Great blend of Fett coolness and baby Yoda cute shit without feeling like it's trying too hard. Curious to see how it pans out by the end of the season.

Halfway through latest season of Killing Eve. Such a, um; zany? Yet serious at the same time crime comedy. Excellent portrayals and writing is spot on. I don't see many people talking about this one but I think it's great.

Catching up on Ozark in between Sopranos episodes. We've got one season to go before we're caught up. I really, REALLY want Darlene dead. And Ruth needs to give the uncle treatment to her dad already. Fuck sake, what a shit-stain.

Anybody else pissed about how they lit that car up with machine gun fire and it only resulted in one passenger getting a shoulder wound? WTF? I was practically ecstatic thinking that damn family was finally going to be off the radar, and then we get the double twist of fail after.

This show's a gut-puncher.

I'm rewatching Dark in preparation for season 3, this time subbed with the original German audio.

Don't fuck about - get on this.

The dubbing was really distracting for me on this, iirc. We tried the first episode or two from S1 but I couldn't get on board. I am fine with subs but sometimes don't feel like reading while I watch

NFA (and any other Sopranos fans) - there's a really great podcast going on right now called Talking Sopranos, with Michael Imperioli (Christopher) and Steve Shripa (Bobby Bacala), where they deep-dive each Sopranos episode with tons of backstory. Awesome guest actors as well. Highly recommended - especially since you're watching the series right now.

My wife is big on podcasts. I find if I'm gonna listen to something I'd rather it be music these days. I'll let her know though and maybe she'll insist on me listening with her on Saturdays. She's got a couple already she does that with while I'm fucking around with guitar setups and whatnot.

I totally hear you about the music thing, but this is seriously fun to listen to. Give it a shot!

3rd season of Ozark is PAINFUL to watch. Watching the marriage essential melt into a puddle of useless goo while they fight each other at every step is just ridiculous. Granted, I figured they'd get there eventually, but it's like something just switched from season 2 to season 3 and we're hitting the warp drive.

If not for Ruth I'd probably need to bow out. She's so awesome though I just want to see every scene be her bitch-slapping rich kids and tossing them off the top of river boats.

Started watching (of all things :freak:  ) Lethal Weapon. Wow. Despite the presence of Damon Wayans; it's actually MUCH better than it has any right to be. At least these first few episodes. Nothing too deep yet deeper than you would expect because of Murtaugh (or however the f you spell it). Dude from Rectify does a GREAT job at portraying the character. It's a few seasons at 20 or so episodes a piece and that's a bit much for me normally. But we'll keep watching and see how it goes. Good so far.

Sopranos is full wack-a-doo at the point we're at. Rich's kids shooting arrows at each other :freak: . The horse barn. Tony snapping, again. Shit got real.

How long does Chris keep this drug spiral going? Seems he's getting pretty deep in it.

Idjit. That dog thing left me  .

Finished up what's out there of Ozark this weekend. Brother Ben was super stupid. I mean, I understand mental illness can be a real bitch. Trust, I've been in the psychiatric hospitals with mom more than once. But it seems super rare that mental instability leads directly to trying to do exactly what you know you shouldn't over and over and over again. Stupid ass.

Like, he goes from "the cartel will straight up kill you just for witnessing something" to "I'm gonna tell the entire world you're working for the cartel" in like a split second.

Helen's resolution for the season:

Biggest star of the season for me has to be Ruth. When she tossed Frank Jr. off the top of the riverboat I could not stop laughing. Speaking of Jr. That boy's a pud of the highest order. And for the first time in a long time Darlene does something I could be happy about. Well, not happy, but not rage inducing angry over.

Also watched parasite, it’s dark Japanese anime on Netflix... bit to eco warrior in places but most of it is pretty dark.

Took the bait and restarted this show. Finished the first episode and the voice acting didn't bug me like it did the first go round. Looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Been rewatching some old favorites:

Hannibal
I am still amazed that this show even got made particularly on a legacy network. So dark and every episode includes cannibalism. Everything about the show is perfect but the casting is particularly great. Mads Mikkelson is equally charming and sinister. The first 2 seasons are perfection but the 3rd changes too much for me.

Penny Dreadful
Perfect name for a show that is over the top. Basically, ever western myth (witches, werewolves, Frankenstein, etc) thrown together in Victorian London. Love it.

Agreed. That's exactly the kind of show I like, and the kind of show that never airs, or is quickly cancelled. I hate that the viewing public dismisses anything that requires them to pay attention or think...

I adore this show, but my wife absolutely couldn't stand it at all. Makes no sense since she loves anything supernatural normally, but this one just pushed her right over the edge. To the point I'm scared to watch it without her in case she walks into the room and fires up the hate train again.

We tried watching it and I got through a few. Good cast but never fully invested ourselves in it for whatever reason. Hannibal was awesome. All seasons. Work of art. Even if it was on network television.

Still plugging away through Lethal Weapon. Riggs apparently gets replaced with Stifler in S3 because Damon Wayans was terrible to work with? Not sure if any of that's true (and Homey the Clown alone doesn't mean you have a "acting legacy" and can be an ass to your fellow cast members); but Riggs' character and portrayal adds a ton of emotional weight to a show that should have none. If we are being honest. Light fluffy and dumb is what it should be. We'll see what happens once he gets the boot.

Still enjoying Dark as well. Potentially very confusing storylines considering how much back and forth between different times there are. But they do it well.

Penny Dreadful was awesome.... sucks it didn't get more seasons but at least they had the chance to wrap up the story.... the new spin off series from is Penny Dreadful : City Of Angels was pretty cool, a little slow but good none the less, interesting concept and I hope they get a second season since there are a few threads I'd like to see continued.
