So when Dracula walked out of the water onto the shore at the end of episode 2; that was pretty much one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. Reminded me of that zombie flick where the zombie got into a fight with a shark underwater :freak: :freak: :freak: :freak:

So anybody see HBO is bringing back that pope show under a different title? The Young Pope/The New Pope whatever. One of those is the old name, one of them the new name and my brain is too stupid to give a fuck which is which.

Malkovich is joining. The show was already pretty spectacular. Adding him should push it up into the stratosphere.

Prepping for more pope weirdness. Looks like the first two episodes of the new season are already up. They better not pooch this like they have their last few shows. On the bright side it's produced in association with Sky in the UK, so they might have some actual talent involved behind the scenes rather than the bobbleheaded doofuses that make up the American creative teams.

Watched the first two episodes of The Outsider. Interesting premise so far, and man the acting is really knocking it outta the park.

Some meh news: Watchmen won't get a second season according to the show creator. He said he doesn't have any ideas and doesn't want to force it. HBO has said they won't move forward without him. Chances this is a negotiating tactic at this point? 75% I really don't want to see another season as I felt it fell apart at the end of season one, but what I want doesn't really matter.

Some  news: Seth MacFarlane has signed a deal with NBC to create show(s) for their new streaming service. This at the very least pushes back the start date for the next season of The Orville even further, if not outright stops it from happening. He had said before this his plate was too full to properly tackle another season and he was going to wait until things were a little more calm before getting it going. Now he's added still more to do. Rumblings are he's not super tickled with Disney now owning his Fox contracts, so there's also that to consider.

I hope bro doesn't spread himself so thin he burns out and gives up altogether.

We also started LetterKenny. The punchlines come so fast and furious that if you laugh at one you've missed the next three. Good lord. The eye candy ain't hurting none either. Wayne's straight-face delivery is killing me.

"Four leaf clover. Make a wish!"

"I wish you weren't so awkward."

Wife's really into Ellen's Game of Games. I honestly think Ellen Degeneres is pure unadulterated evil after an episode of that.

More Letterkenny. The Fartbook episode had me absolutely dying. Had to rewind several times due to cracking up. They nailed the whole Facebook nonsense, including somebody going full Zuckerberg, and managed to have the separate groups interacting in absolutely hysterical ways. I about lost it when they confronted the girl for only posting cat farts. All too true.

The priest bringing up fart culture reminded me of cakefarts, which made it even funnier.

Anybody watch Emergence at all? It's like they're skirting the line on almost being a really good show, but they just can't get themselves to commit to the possibility without tossing in unnecessary soap opera bullshit every few scenes. I do like that they haven't painted the AIs as all pure evil, which is the usual way this garbage goes, but come on, head the overall plot somewhere other than surprise after surprise with no laid-out plot being resolved at any point. They are slowly turning a super interesting concept into standard issue bland cop show #4,573.

I watched a few episodes of Letterkenny and laughed my butt off. Then I sort of forgot about it. My wife wasn't really that impressed with it but I will revisit it at some point.

I finished up S13 of Sunny. That ballet scene was the weirdest tone shift in a show I think I've ever seen. And in a show that I NEVER would have expected such a shift to occur  I am waiting for 14 to show up and will binge it

Sunny is such a ridiculously hilarious show. I have to be careful if drinking while watching that show 'cause it'll suck me into its vortex and the next thing I know I'm two fifths and seven hours in. So damn hysterical though.

The repeated patterns on Letterkenny are cracking me the fuck up.

"Dat's whats I's appreciates abouts ya, Katie"

"Is that what you appreciate about me?"

"OK, fine. Wayne, yer sister's hot! There, I said it!" Runs about twenty yards and then stops panting.

Or the infamous:
"Put some clothes on."

"Not my forte."

"Unfortunate."

Wayne's stoic, flat response to literally anything and everything, no matter how outrageous, is hilarious. We're only six episodes in and the characters are so vivid already I start running the conversations through my head just randomly. Stewart's group and their random schemes constantly screwing with everybody was funny, and then suddenly the whole town rallies around them when there was trouble. It's just a riot.

"Didn't he fuck an ostrich?"

"Allegedly."

"It'd take more than one guy to fuck an ostrich."

"According to what we heard, it was a sick ostrich."

"Allegedly."

Watched After Life with Ricky Gervais last night. What an absolutely fantastic show. Emotions right where there needs to be with that dry acerbic Gervais wit. More sad than anything; but just excellent. Highly recommended.

I watched a few seasons of Homeland. I cannot recommend it. The show could have been great if they killed off Claire Danes in the first season and Marina got topless in every episode. But sadly nope. If Claire Danes isn't bipolar irl, then she at least pulled that off. But that is the main thing that grates on my nerves. I wish she would stop overacting and stfu.

Watched the first episode of Curb S10 yesterday. JB Smoove is hilarious. The whole recurring red hat and Weinstein lookalike bit was hilarious. I'm going to let the whole season drop before I dig back in. I just needed my Larry David fix.

Re: What shows do you watch?

Avenue 5's first episode last week was pretty enjoyable. Basically a send-up of the space-bro culture that's beginning to build up around the Bezos and Musks of the world. Spin what they're currently doing into the future in a Silicon Valley sort of way. Not that I'm sure we'll end up with a Silicon Valley rush into space at some point, but if you let your imagination stretch a bit at the possibility, you could totally see how Jack Black's character is basically a trend-jumper that just happened to catch the right trend at the right time and built himself a space tourist industry giant on the backs of the real innovators.

The first episode captured the potential failure with that possibility extremely well, and in a pretty funny way.

Then episode two rolled in this week and tried to coast their way through it with obvious stupidity and so much broken science that even my usual "let it slide for the lulz" attitude couldn't tolerate it. There were maybe two moments that were genuinely funny, and a TON of annoying, "why the fuck would?" moments that just left the ol' nope hanging in the air.

I did enjoy Jack's character telling Nasa to go fuck themselves, because that is EXACTLY what someone that stupid in that position would do. But I really think they fucked up killing the only person on-board with any real authority and ability to do something with that authority in the first episode. The set up for the next episode being about the passengers taking over, while potentially interesting, is extra stupid because what, exactly, are they taking over? Literally the only thing dumber than the current "captain" being "in charge" is having the passengers, who apparently believe the word "propellant" isn't English, try to find their way back to earth faster.

It's disappointing. I'll give it one more, but considering the creative power they had behind this sucker, there's no excuse for episode two being that shitty.

Letterkenny's still killing it. So at least we got that going for us.

Started (re)watching Justified. I've seen some episodes here and there and always dug it but never really followed through on it. Great cast and good storylines. I am remembering bits and pieces as I watch but overall; it's a fairly fresh experience.
