Soundgarden review from Sunday night in Boston.
Awesome. It was awesome. They played great. Some songs sounded a little muddy and sometimes the highs were a little too high. Overall it still sounded awesome. Chris sounded really good and his playing was really good. I was impressed with his playing. Thayil was good. I noticed on the songs where it was just him on guitar and Chris on vocals that things seemed to sound more clear. The setlist was awesome. They mixed it up really well. Anyone that is even half way into the band, I would really suggest going. It was a great show.
One bummer note. I'm really trying to forget about this but still can't. I saw bassist Ben Sheppard on the street before the show. I said hi to him and he just kept walking by. Completely ignored me and just walked straight by. I was like, that's a real bummer. Just a hi and a handshake would have been awesome. There was really no one else around and I was thinking that he was probably planning on the fact that no one would recognize him.
Anyways, the band sounded great though!

I'd ignore you too if you said hi to me. Loser.
j/k
I need to go see 'em if they come anywhere reasonably close.

I just said "Ben." There was no one else around. Guy could have just stopped to shake my hand. Obviously he knew I was going to the show if I was calling him out on the street right by the venue.

Maybe if you didn't give off that creepy Mark David Chapman vibe.....

JK, completely ignoring you was kinda douchey...

I mean, I've been listening to the guy since I was 13 yrs old. I loved Badmotorfinger. Loved Superunknown. I've just been a huge fan, one of my favorite bands. Kinda sucked to have a guy that's kind of a childhood hero to just walk right by you. It was douchey.
Re: Soundgarden review from Sunday night in Boston.
Ben is known to be an introvert stoic, so it's understandable for you to think he's a douche. It's even surprising that he smiles these days and gives interviews, he never used to give a fuck, other than just being a creative force in Soundgarden.
Great review bro! I've never seen them live as they never came to the Philippines back then, Cornell has hinted that either his solo band or Soundgarden would play there, as he wants to play venues that he never got to go. Maybe this year I can see Soundgarden finally, as I've seen AiC back in '06.

I had tickets to see AIC back in like 2010 but missed it because of bad weather. I couldn't get into Boston. It sucked. I was so pissed. I have to see them as they are like childhood hero's too.
I hope you get to see Soundgarden. They played really good. The sound was just awesome too. Chris was cool as fuck. It was the same night the Patriots were playing the Ravens in the playoffs. He talked about it for a little bit and gave an update to the score. He was trying to get a guy in the front row to tell him but he couldn't hear the guy. He finally just grabbed the guy's iPhone and read the score. It was funny.
Another awesome part of the show was they took a request for 4th of July. A chick had a sign and also a bouquet of flowers. I figured she wanted to hear Flower but instead it was 4th of July. She gave the flowers to Chris. He was cool. 4th of July sounded awesome. It was so low but didn't sound muddy at all, it just sounded great. Hope you get to see them.

I went to the show in DC on the 18th. Love it -- they sounded great and the setlist was amazing:

Boston setlist was a lot like that but just mixed up a little differently. Encore was pretty much the same.
Actually, I thought "Black hole Sun" was the worse sounding song they played all night. Kim's guitar was up way too high, it didn't accompany Chris's voice too well. On the contrary, I thought "My Wave" sounded awesome. I was really surprised with "Been away too long." I wasn't really into the song on the album but it was an awesome song live.

Been Away Too Long does sound better live, when they played it at Letterman, I was like "Did that sound better live than on the album?".

Yeah, for me it was almost a complete different song played live. It was just way more interesting to me. It's kind of just like the commercial song of the album so I was like, meh. Way different live.

I wouldn't say it was "way different" I just think it has more energy live. Translates better.

Just watched the letterman video and listened to the album track. I think they tuned lower live for the song and I agree it sounds better live.
