Triple Recto - full stack

Post by Tortuga »

My brother is selling his prized full stack Triple Recto. Cabs are straight type (squared-top) with angled baffle. He's asking $2100 and is not looking to break up the set or ship.

SoCal (Long Beach) area.

This thing is a beast, and in really excellent condition.
If interested, PM me for details, and I'll connect you with him.

[edit - detail pics added for serial numbers, etc.]

Its at least a few years old. I am going to his place tonight, and if it's there, I'll get some more info as to date tags, serial number, etc.

I'm not familiar with the "reborn" model - is that a reissue? When did they come out?

Looks to be an original 3-channel (not Reborn). This one doesn't have the 50/150 watt switches for each channel and the logo on the chassis says "Triple Rectifier Solo Head" (The Reborn says "Triple Rectifier 150W Head")

In 2010 or 2011, Mesa did some updates to the Dual and Triple Rectifiers. The big differences are:
-Revoiced clean channel
-Series FX loop
-Each channel can be switched down to 50 watts
-Different footswitch layout
-Tube protector bar was replaced with a cage surrounding the tubes
-Chassis logo text changed (see above)
Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro II
Gibson SG-3
Gibson Les Paul Special
Vox AC30HWH
Janice Cabs 2x12 (Creamback 65s)

Sounds right - I do remember there being a bar across the back to protect the tubes. I am almost positive there are 3 channels, and don't recall seeing any kind of power reducing switch.

Thanks for the Info, Luke!

Are the reborns considered better or do they suck because someone fucked with something that was already good?

Went by his place last night & got some additional pics of the serial numbers, etc.. Posted above in OP.

It all looks to be in really great condition. No tears in tolex, leather corners on cabs are all pristine. Very few scuffs. All the power tubes are Mesa - might even be all original. From what he told me, the previous owner of the first half-stack had it mainly for looks. The second speaker cab he got appears same.

I've had people tell me that the Reborns are the ultimate recto but I've still never had a chance to molest one myself

The Reborn's are supposedly tighter and more aggressive all around. Basically they built in what a boost does to a standard Recto. This is what I recall anyway.

Went over 15 years with two guitars, one bass and one amp... I blame GAB!
