PTP Meathead

Post by Zozobra »

Howdy folks of DYI.

I made a turret board for a PTP meathead a while back and never got around to building it. I recently fixed up my trusty AOR and that amp just wants to be fucked in the face with a meathead so it is time.

Here is the layout for anyone interested:

Pretty simple to do.

Here is the board I made:

Standard 'modern' turrets and a PTFE board. PTFE really is a dream to work with. Much nicer than phenolic or garolite.

The parts are in the mail now and should be with me in the next few days. The next task is to design some art work to go on the water slide decal. I went with a white enclosure and I'll stick with simple B&W art work. This will be the step that hold things up haha! Suggestions welcome. I got 120*95*34mm to work with.

Its a one knob fuzz. Quite dark in tone but sounds huge.

Gotcha...Seems fairly easy to build as well. And by easy I mean an idiot like me might be able to do it. Maybe we can hear it when it is done?

Its pretty simple build. The difficult thing here is making the turret board and then soldering the transistors into the turrets without frying them! For a first build I'd look at either doing it on a vero layout as you can socket the transistors which is less risky. I think madbean do (or did) a mini PCB which is worth looking into if you're interested in building one.

that would be a pretty easy build to do on perfboard as well, I'll have to make one after I get my other projects done
