Hell is real.
Its working at a place playing some horrible pop country channel that plays the same 20 songs EVERY DAY. The mix algorithm sucks so I'll hear some songs 4-5 times in a single day.
"I Drive Your Truck" has to be one of the worst songs ever written. I swear the writers for these country groups try and see how stupid of lyrics they can come up with that will still get idiots to lap up their offerings.
Horrible. Just horrible.
That said, one song does have a sweet guitar part, really impressive stuff on it. Rest of the song is totally forgettable.
Someone please deafen me before I go insane.

Modern radio country is seriously the dumbest, most lowest-common-denominator music in the world. I'd rather listen to Disney princess pop or Nicki Minaj.

Re: Hell is real.
My wife & I left the races a couple weeks ago BC of pop country music. (She hates it probably more than me).
The generator that ran the track lights shit the bed, so while they were waiting to repair the generator, they turned a country station on over the P.A. system. We held out as long as we could. At first making fun of it..then it got irritating to a point where we couldnt take any more. we left.
As soon as we got on the access road to leave, they turned the damn lights on.
I understand racing is a "redneck" thing, but not all spectators are into country music. If they must play music, I dont see why they couldnt play something less offensive (an oldies station, or perhaps a news station).
I ROFL'd when they played some song that had some inbred "sangin'" "I wish yeew luuv me like mah daawwg" .
Did I mention I hate pop country music?

Both of those would be much better than this trash. I mean, its actually impressive how cookie cutter they can make this music and how moronic they can make the lyrics and people enjoy it. Its not even ironic or anything. Its just terrible.

Re: Hell is real.
What's sad, is that there are some great musicians (the people who actually PLAY..not pose with an accoustic, or a Tele or Les Paul that isnt even plugged in) who are in those shitty country bands.
That's another thing that I cant figure out for the life of me.. the posing with a guitar thing. If you're not playing it...Why hold it? Why a guitar? Why do you never see one of them posing with a bass, or posing behind a drum kit? I've NEVER understood the point of that.

Turn up Cattle Decapitation. If they complain, tell them you have the same right to listen to your music at a reasonable volume. They can either turn it down, or take it up with HR. And if they take your red stapler one more goddamned time...
What will happen is that, instead of letting you listen to your music, they will let nobody listen to music at all. You'll get the Icy Stare of Death, but that's a small price to pay for breaking out of Hell.

If only that was a possibility Brendan I'd do it! Hell, I'm fairly certain my coworkers would appreciate a break from the monotony.
Unfortunately, its piped through the PA and the GM/part owner is the one who's set the channel.
Just one CD song though over the intercom would be awesome.

Someone in our office had ghetto thump / dance music bullshit playing one day. I fired up some Slayer & they turned it off. I think they got the picture.

Re: Hell is real.
I've found something new to troll Mrs Watt with.. drives her nuts.
I start singing "He Cant Even Bait A Hook".
LAWL. I dont know who sings that song, but it's so horrible, it's great. PERFECT example of why I loathe country music.
Went Sunday to get a new battery for my lawn mower. Some neck (jacked up z-71..mud tires..Dale Earnhardt stickers..chrome nutsack hanging off the back bumper) had it cranked up in the parking lot. Stereotypes...sometimes they're true

Try listening to "The Heat" on Sirrius. Pop hiphop tunes. They play a rotation of 10-11 songs.

Honestly, I could deal with that better I'm guessing. pop-hop fades into the background better than jangly guitars and overdone twangs.
It'd be a lesser level of hell simply because it'd be different for a bit.

The stink bag who used to work in the cube next to me would listen to country all day. I seriously felt like pulling an Anchorman and calling her saying I was her doctor, Chim Richalds, and that she was knocked up.

I made it to 1:29. Nothing in particular happened there except that I had a minor stroke.

Modern Country is one of the shittiest forms of... entertainment.... to come down the pike. The only difference from IT & any top 40 pop boy band is the twang they try to force into their voice.

Idiocracy I guess..

I do however, dig some good ol Bluegrass!

dude you're a self admitted Slayer fan ... of course modern country is going to annoy you. I love the Bait a hook song ... I'm a PA redneck & work in N/E NJ - not a single one of my co-workers know how to skin a buck or bait a hook ... people like songs they can relate to - I sure as fuck can relate to that one ! http://www.vevo.com/watch/justin-moore/ ... LXJ1102267 like the CE cameo
BTW, I'm an old 80's metalhead to the core - always will be. When Cobain started all that shit in the late 80's, I refused to listen to any of it on principle & switched over to modern country for a time ... there's alot of it that is akin to southern rock. Some serious players in country today too... today, it's not all tele's - you see way more les pauls in country music than ever before.
