NAD/Carvin Legacy?

Post by shane159 »

Just got Legacy on a trade from YO Squig , and I am really impressed so far. It is loud as fuck, and has some fairly good saggy Marshall tones at volume, and the clean takes pedals like a champ. I am impressed so far. The reverb circuit carries over like a delay when switched off, and it cut through with the band very well. It also has a growl to it that is hard to explain. Anyone else a fan?

I've had mine for close to 8 years now. LOVE the cleans. The drive isn't for everybody though.

Yeah the drive is different for sure. It is hard to explain, I am digging it though. My band at the moment is mainly rock/blues with an edge and it seems to work fairly well so far. I have been running a Nitro with a 5751 in the V2 to get more Plexi type tones and using a Box of Rock for boost, but the Legacy seems to hold it's own fairly well without the boost. The Nitro does sound way bigger, but I love the way single notes and leads just sing on the Legacy without any effort. I am in the honeymoon phase for sure, but I think these amps have something special going on for sure.

Oh yeah that amp was made for playing leads. It's a Vai sig after all

Speaking of which, I haven't played mine in a long time. Gotta do something about that

I've been gigging w/the Legacy since '99. I really like this amp. I've been using a MXR 10 band EQ in the loop as a boost for leads, it's rarely needed. Play most of the time guitar straight into the amp. Might use slight chorus & Delay for leads. I would like to check out the L3 to compare.

Great acquisition, enjoy your Legacy.

Got to try one of the heads briefly at the local GC last year. Dunno what speaks were in the cab they had it plugged into, but I could tell pretty quickly that I could definitely rock that amp for my tones/style.

Congrats mang. I had a Legacy halfstack for 4 or 5 years. Cool amp but totally not my style. Played countless gigs with it; never had a single issue with it. Never even blew a power toob.
